Pacific's interview was totally relaxed, Mr. Goodwin was interviewing (he came to our university). He makes sure that the mood is relaxed/laid back. It lasted about 45 minutes for me, but time flies when you talk! neways, first i had to write an impromptu writing assignment out of a choice of 3 questions, i picked "if you had to watch a movie at home, or goto the theater, which would you pick & why"

after that we got started with the interview...again, i went at my own pace and helped steer conversation. first question was "what influenced you to get into optometry," did you consider other professions, how did ur undergrad prepare you, a couple more (i forget), what made you chose Pacific, your extracirrcular activites, how would u contribute to Pacific, then the ethical question: a patient comes in with blurry vision, his insurance pays for it yearly but its been only 11 months since his last exam, he wants you to change the dates on the form/pay you back later, do you honor his request"

other than that, it was all good... Mr. Goodwin is super friendly 🙂

What would you do if you were the doc. in that case Highly Fanatic? or anyone for that matter since the answer could go either way? I'm just interested to see how everyone's answer would be.

Personally, i think the law applies first. Even if the patient will pay you back, i wouldn't risk my whole practice for just one patient. Yeah it's about being sympathetic and all, but you will never know who's playing tricks on ya.

i said that one must approach the legality issue with careful consideration; so your a doctor, but your also bound by ethics and legalities. lying on insurance forms is a no no, but weighing out the pros/cons...i would offer an alternative to the patient if possible (ex. payment plan, etc.)

be a lil creative, but most importantly show some critical thought

back to OAT studying 🙁

Hmm...interesting answer.

Yeah, I have my fall break this week so i'm studying for the OAT as well. My ticket hasn't arrived yet though, hopefully it should by tomorrow. Otherwise, i'm flying all the way to Chicago if i have to to get those chicks to print out my ticket on time. Here's an advice for all the ones who are going to take the OAT in the future, don't ever register online!

...sorry, got off the subject a bit there 😀
