I Hate Bio 2!!!

damn do i hate bio 2!! its the most boring subject i have ever taken! nothing like bio 1. i dont give 3 sh*ts about evolution, speciation, kingdoms, phylums, animals, or freakin plants!! they are all so damn boring! this class is really sucking the life out of me!! its really hard to study something that doesnt interest you. 😡

Hey, you gotta start somwhere right? I also disliked learning all those taxa and anatomy of the crayfish, worms, pigs, etc. But in the end you realize that your upper division classes all refer back to your freshmen bio courses. You don't believe me? Then take embryology, one of the first things they teach you is that ontogoney recapitulates phylogeny.

I understand- my class was dreadful too. Get the A and Find the silver lining ... look for a good lab group and people that will be with you in the upper level classes. That will make a difference in genetics, organic chemistry and others (biochemistry, pathophysiology).

Interesting. What you are learning was Bio 1 at my school. I agree with you, that material can be really dry.

My school doesn't even have Bio 1 and Bio 2. We start with Evolutionary Biology and Cell and Molecular Biology freshman year.

yeh, I know just what you mean. I took all that stuff in Bio 1 and I hated it too. I think Bio 2 is much more interesting. We are currently learning about enzymes, respiration, proteins, lipids etc. I am enjoying it. Don't worry, it gets better...it really does.

Looks like you've hit an evolutionary dead end in the natural selection that is medical school. Adapt or you're extinct

At least you don't have to take Bio 1, 2, AND 3. This is how it is at my school:

Bio 1: Genetics and Evolution
Bio 2: Cellular and Molecular
Bio 3: Physiology and Biochemistry

And that's just the sophomore year intro sequence. I guess the bright side is if you hate a class, you're only in it for 9-10 weeks. Good luck sticking it out!

shrami, the things your learning now, i learned in bio 1. its weird how theyre fliped around from school to school. i loved cell biology, genetics, molecular biology. this crap in bio 2 blows!

I hear you, I hated it also. But you should always look on the bright side of life. You are a college student with a great future. I am sure there are thousands of people out there who would do anything to be in your shoes. Relax do not study too hard. hard work + patience = reward (MD)

its a good post cause its true, your best days of your life will probably be your college days. Even with all the studying we have to do.
