You should all know that JC is a private company (nothing to do with the government) out to make money, and they have absolutely no oversight...no one tells them what they can and can't do. Their policies have shown to increased mortality (yep....their decisions kill people....isn't that murder?)

My question is - because google won't tell me...

What hospitals have had the balls to give the finger to JC and say no to their accreditation?

I don't think they really have a choice... I believe JC accreditation is required for CMS reimbursement. So in the real world- No JC accreditation= no CMS money= doors shut and lights off.

I'm pretty sure periopdoc works at such a place. I don't recall the details but I think his hospital is accredited through some other mechanism or body.

as far as i know, milwaukee county mental health does not have jc accreditation..so there are certain insurances they can't take..and the docs arent req to be BC

The ASA newsletter had some articles about two other accreditation commissions. Our local surgery center is accredited through one of them.

DNV is what my hospital uses. They tend to be more focused on improving care rather than punishing. When they find something they don't agree with they work with us to come up with a change or plan of correction.
