Well, lucky for you, it's not on the DAT.👍

Practice, practice, practice - thats what got me through Physics. Keep working out problems till you get the concepts. Thank goodness there is no physics on the DAT, indeed.🙂

well, I love physics 😉

i think physics is cool. i hate chemistry in all its varieties tho.

physics is my kryptonite....long live biochemistry!

You know I thought I was such a hotshot after organic but when it comes to physics, I have no clue whats flying..... I cant stand it and I just thank G-d everyday that its not on the DATs and that the dental schools wont see my grades this year.

I actually like physics. Only class I haven't had to study to get an A in. 😍 I do however hate organic chemistry with a passion. 👎

yea thank god its not on the dat, but still its so frustrating!!! i dont get it at alll.

i did love orgo though.

I wish physics was on the DAT. Physics can't be memorized. It's the true test of thinking.

Since the MCAT tests you on physics, take the MCAT, and lets see if you still feel that way...😉

Physics brought my GPA down!, I think that we go way into too much detail...we take the same physics that physics major take, and that sucks!

Already have. 13 physical sciences

all you physics lovers suck! i hate hate hate hate haaaaaaaaaaaaaaate it. dumbest class ever.

Math>>>Physics>>>Chemistry>>>Biology

Hate is a strong word. Maybe not good at, or not my favorite class. I personaly look up to people who can study physics. I found newtonian mechanics to be pretty boring, but thats were the boredom ends. ELectromagnetic theory, quantum (is just crazy), I guess I am a curious person.

so yea i have officially given up on physics. oops?

::cough:: bull****...

I'm just hating on you...don't take it personal.

MCAT's passage-based. Only 1 or 2 of the questions pertain to information outside the passage. The answers can be deduced from the passage.

And if it isn't obvious to you guys yet, I'm not apply to dental out of undergrad. I'm applying out of medical.

Physics goes easy on me. Because all you need to know is the principles of laws that are about 20~30 in one course. But in Biology, you need to know thousands of vocabulary that all look alike lol.

Leaving medical school or after completion of med school? If the latter, why (you might as well practice as a physician--ahem. ..opportunity cost)?

I hated it too since I didn't understand it..... but as soon as I started to understand it, I lost any interest in it.....
Physics sucked.....

Just took an Ochem final that was a monster today...the damn synthesis is killing me. Physics was a piece of cake compared to Organic. I find the concepts in Physics easier to comprehend because they're more concrete. Sn1, Sn2, E2, E1, inversion, primary, secondary, tertiary rules...all that and more crammed down our throat in 1 week. Needed a 89 for an A- and I can almost guarantee that I didn't get it. Oh well. Good luck on those finals everyone.😱

I am done with my finals and I never have to take another math class again. I took Linear over Diffy Q because I thought linear would be easier. Never judge a book by its cover just because a class has the word algebra in the title does not make it easy. I miss physics and organic the world was much easier back then.

I was very lucky to have take home tests in my physics class this semester.

Why do most people hate physics and orgo? I really liked both - it was gen chem that did me in! When the heck am I ever going to use a "particle in a box"? What the heck was that all about - i still don't understand :-(

you don't need physics in dentistry so it makes perfect sense. i only think the sciences and perceptual ability part of the DAT are actually important in becoming a dentist. and i guess i can understand english if your going to be practicing in the US/Canada.. but math makes no sense either

When I see this thread I think to myself what is the big deal.. All it is basic Newtonian mechanics, a little relativity, and the 4 Maxwell equations. What is the big deal. There is only a handful of eaquations to remember for both semesters. (Assuming you derive all your equations instead of memorizing special cases.) Physics 1,2,3, not hard at all. Quantum and thermo are bitches. If I remember correctly you barely have to do any calculus. Sorry for griping but just got done with a year of Physical Chemistry.

lol... i wish i could say the same lol... deriving equations... i'd love to see a dentist sitting in his office doing that (i'm just jelous since physics is hard for me :meanie: )

I may have come off as arrogent. I really wish I could spend another couple years learning more math and physics. I am just fascinated by it, I guess I am jealous of Bohr, Einstein, Bolztman, ect.... I have read several books about string theory and would love to learn how it works/if it works. I have had several conversations with my physics instructor and admire the feild.

im glad you like it, but i dont know its just not my thing. its hard for me especially since this was the first physics class ive ever taken. its not about understanding the concepts, i just cant apply them to the problems we have on our exams.

One of the problems in our physics book was about analyzing the tension forces of an orthodontic wire on moving a tooth. lol🙂

physics is one of the reasons why i didnt take the mcat

You need not work that much of problems if you've already got a strong foundation on maths. It's simply an application of the latter under various ideal/theoretical situations. The key to loving and embracing physics is learning how one formula is derived and related to one another. This effort seems tedious at first, but once the resting inertia is overcome, the object will begin to cruise and make you stay way ahead of the rest.👍

I'm not smart, but physics is among the few classes I don't need to work hard for... it's mostly intuition🙂

oh i didnt work hard for it. maybe that was my problem lol. oops

oh i didnt work hard at physics either. failed the first exam and several quizzes. by OCT. i was really worried about failing the class. had a talk with my professor, who pretty much told me i wouldnt be cut out for dental school if i couldnt understand this stuff -_- but hey. i studied liek crazy. pulled off an A- for the semester. lol

its very do-able esp. since im probably the worse person in math here on sdn. lol

Physics is the root of all science, at least chemistry and biology. Chemistry is nothing more than very complex physics, and biology is nothing more than very complex chemistry. Everyone should have at least some background in physics. Also, it is probably the most useful science for dentistry, especially ortho.
