Rather jealousy.
People with shaky stats reach to such stellar stats in one of the following ways.
1. get motivated by it.
2. get intimidated and get mad
3. get intimidate and despair
I don't know if avingupta falls in the category of "shaky" stats but I do. I've been going through each of the three reactions.🙄

If you worked in retail you know that all too well. Dentistry will be godsent since they are bound to respect you more than retail guy who they suspect is a flake and is trying to get them to spend more $$$$$$.😡

When I was in high school my GPA was a 2.3 out of a 4.0 and my SAT score was an 860 🙁
It was only then after I recieved those scores did I realize that if i wanted to get out of the ****-hole i was living in, I would have to start acing classes. So I dedicated myself studying and work and hopefully if schools do accept me this year, my hard work will have paid off.
But those that say "Do I have a chance with great stats, I say:
"Of course not, you have 0 chance. So do us all a favor and just don't apply"

Don't hate the "playas", hate the game! I give props to those are focused and have high marks!
Lets just hope those with high marks are at least:
A) half decent looking people
B) sociable

The people that ask such questions are either really stupid or they want to brag. I do not blame them for wanting to brag about there achievements. $h!t, I would; however, I do not have such stats.

Im not saying that I hate people with high GPA's. But, I know people with high GPA's that are not necessarily smart....they just took many bird courses or locked themselves in a room for 4 years glued to a textbook, and think they are amazing because of their GPA, but then u have a conversation with them about anything in the real world, they are totally clueless!
ON THE OTHER HAND, I also know people with high GPA's that definitely reflect their intelligence and it is those people I admire, because they are well-rounded.
Anyways, my original point was that I hate when people with incredible stats ask, "Do I have a chance", because to me, they probably just wanna hear replies to boost their ego. Cmon...if you have a high GPA and need to ask if you have a chance, than maybe you shouldnt have a high GPA!

I think it may be more that they want actual assurance/confirmation that they are guaranteed into dental school so they don't have to worry so much like the rest of us.
But usually, people don't post with such perfect scores. They usually have 3.9GPA and 21 DAT but with one "flaw" being a 16 in math, and they get neurotic over that 16 score. Even though we think its no biggy.
Or if they do post with such perfect scores, then maybe they get overconfident and apply to only 3 or 4 schools. And then they regret it as time passes by.

If people feel that they need to brag to an anonymous internet board for whatever reason seriously have attention issues and should seek help.
Having a high GPA is an achievement one should be proud of. However, they should be proud of it in a modest, mature manner. For example, if I got a letter of acceptance, I wouldnt go to all my friends and say, "suckah, im gonna be a dentist and you're not and now im better than you" and stick out my tongue like Gene Simmons....instead, I would say, "Dude, Ive worked so hard and wanted this for so long....I finally got in"!

That is a hilarious post. However, I have seen anyone that clueless on this forum yet. I have a ridiculously low gpa, but I also have many positive in my academic record, which I am hoping the Adcom notice.
I think it would be best to tell someone with a 15 and 2.6 GPA/per quarter that they will not get accepted unless if they make some drastic changes. Still, it is no reason to hate them either.

I advise that do not hate anything in particular. Because you will end up with what you hate. Unless you are gonna be up in the mountain somewhere alone, chances are you will meet such kinds (a little bit of everything) everywhere you go. Work, dental school, classmates, patients.
Especially when you come to a large school, you will see how different people can be. They come in all shapes and sizes. I usually sit and look at my classmates, they are quite entertaining.

Yes I think we all dislike people like these... I know several at my school. Pre-meds of course all of whom I view as inferiors. I want to go up to them and say. "Hey fukers here is a riddle: what do you call a guy who spent 1/4 as much time studying as you and just raped the **** out of you on a test.... You can call me David."

Tinkerbell, if I meet people who think they are amazing solely because of their GPA, I definitely would not want to hang around them...I meet many people like that all the time, and trust me, they aint my friends

Do good stats usually mean u will do well in dental sch?
Be aware. I have heard too many stories that many great students have tough time in dental school.
I am sure certain people wont have a problem to get in. It doesnt ensure they will not have the same problem later on.
Besides, DS is far from just written test and memorization. Lab courses are essential as well. A good test-takers might not be a good artist.
