^&%&*#%^&#^()*^d( *^!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turned in my secondary to Vermont over six weeks ago with LOR sent mid September. Their website said it could take up to six weeks to process letters after secondary submission so I waited that long for them to update the status of my LOR on the website. When last week it still said they hadn't received them I e-mailed to find out what was going on. Of course, to my frustration, a *week* later they wrote back to tell me that indeed, they did not receive them.

Now not only do I have to pay my university to send them again, I just lost six weeks waiting for Vermont's status update+a week waiting for response from Vermont+two weeks for my letters to be reprocessed by my university and go through the mail AGAIN=9 weeks total.

So uh, I'm going to be penalized because you're too understaffed to update your website within an appropriate time frame? All other schools updated within a couple weeks. And guess what? They all received my letters. Imagine that.

SO FRUSTRATED WITH THIS STUPID PROCESS.

I'm not necessarily blaming Vermont- I'm sure they're swamped and maybe it was the USPS that lost my letters- but these are time sensitive materials and waiting six weeks just to find out that they they were waiting on *you* to do something you already did... SO FRUSTRATING. I feel like if you can show proof that your university did indeed send out your letters the first time, then instead of being placed at the back of the line for something out of your control you should be bumped up to where you should have been if your letters were received as intended.

*sigh* Sorry. Needed to vent. This whole thing is just such a ridiculous three-ring circus. 🙁

I couldn't agree more. It's the most frustrating thing I have ever had to go through. With any luck, we can look back someday and wonder how the hell we made it.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me at VCU. I was complete, sent in my letters, waited a month and then nothing happened. It took me a good week to get ahold of someone in the admissions office to find out what was missing.

I understand SUNY was not able to find my rec letter. So it was sent again. Put me back 1 month. Another university told me they needed a transcript 3 weeks after I called to make sure evrything was fine. This was in September. 3 weeks latter I sent the transcript again (or so I though).Well I call today (about a month later) and they told me they can't find it...excellent! so don't worry.. this sucks!

I would agree that with the amount of money they make per applicant, each school would receive anywhere from $500,000 to over a million dollars to process these things, each year. (multiply each school's app fee by the number of students completing secondaries from last year, and they get some of the AMCAS fees on top of this.) Hiring a few more temps to sort out mail and update applicants doesn't seem like too much to ask.

,The advising office at my school sent my letter packet to the undergrad admissions at one school that I applied to as opposed to the med school. It put me at least 1 month behind. They also screwed up the addresses of at least 5 other schools. This sucks...

Rochester lost my LOR's. TWICE! Jefferson has lost my entire secondary application, told me it was never completed. I was never billed for it. Who knows, maybe I messed up. But they also never got my LOR's and I KNOW those were sent those.

odds are looking like you messed up. that's my bet. lightning rarely strikes twice.

just wanted to add my own lor fiasco to the list...to make a long story short, i sent three LOR packets to Cornell, starting at the end of august, and was complete *yesterday.* third time must have been the charm 🙂 arhhhhhh. i wonder where the first two packets went? the address was the same on all three...

I had same troubles last year, I finally carried one with me to the interview and handed it in personally - wait listed last year, hopefully it be better this time around (that school declined me a secondary this year, lol)

This year however, I am using Interfolio. Thank god for that. I have atleast two duplicated deliveries cause the first ones just went pooof...Somehow I dont like USPS.

Good luck to ya all.

I had the same problem with SUNY Upstate-I should have been complete over two months ago, but they couldn't find the LORs I sent multiple times. I finally called them, and they admitted they hadn't printed them out. Gah! Two months lost....I'm seriously annoyed.

But what can ya do?

I think this process is the worst thing in the world AHHHHHHHH:scared::scared::scared:

I had this exact problem with Albany. The thing is that they according to records did indeed download the letter off virtual evals
