I used the search button, I SWEAR!

I'm curious as to what all of you think about taking eng101, history101, and some other "electives" at a non-university. I'm still getting my BS at a 4-year university, but I was thinking about taking the "BS" classes at a regular college to save time (re: online) and money.

I realize medical schools frown upon taking your entire degree at community colleges and non-universities, but what about the electives?

Sorry if this has been asked before, and if so: please direct me to the post!

Thank you! 🙂

I'd advise being careful. "some" electives should never make your BS from the university seem "easy" (i.e. not going full time, not having 100+ credits from the university, etc.) You have to submit all transcripts to AMCAS, so you must ensure that you can get an official paper version sent confidentially from your online source.

One final note. I WOULD NOT take English online. Remember, the verbal reasoning section is a part of the MCAT. Many argue that it is the most important section because sucess on verbal reasoning often translates to better performance on USMLE. There is also a writing sample on the MCAT. Since "English" is such a big part of the medical admissions process it is probably best to make it seem legitimate.

Good luck
