i have recently changed from my B.Sc in health sciences to a B.Sc in nursing however after spending a semester in nursing i was not content with the course and what ti had to offer, so im switching back to health sciences, i have approx 1 and a half years left and in terms of prereq's i only have biochemistry and organic 2/physics 2.
my gpa is currently 3.66 (overall - science pending as i have some prereq's left to complete) and i expect to get it up to 3.8 at least upon completing of my course.

how will the fact that i switched majors affect my app to D.O institutions as well as M.D? and how should i address it in my application?

any help will be appreciated thank you.

No one really cares that you are switching majors. Especially since you are switching back. And, because you are switching back, I don't see any particular reason to even bring it up. MD and DO schools won't know. So you will be fine, don't worry.

Note that biochemistry is not a prereq.

There's no need to address the change. College is about exploring options and trying new things. You explored another avenue to providing healthcare. End of story.

thank you for that reply guys i was really worried that somehow that would show instability? and they would not consider me based on that factor.
so med schools wont notice that i switched majors?
because i withdrew from my nursing classes and am switching back to health sciences in the fall.

i know biochem isnt a pre-requisite, but it helps to take it right?

I know people who switched majors four times. I suppose all schools are different, but I doubt many, if any, record what your major used to be. If you withdrew from a class, that is generally on your transcript along with the name of the course, and has no impact on your GPA. If an adcomm notices, they won't care.

It is definitely helpful to take Biochem before you get to med school.

thank you for the replies guys 🙂

No one would know you switched majors lol. So there is no concern.

Yes biochem is certainly helpful.
