DON'T STRESS!! I know it can look rather stupid coming from someone who haven't even taken it but I know there are a lot of us out there who have to put everything on the line for DAT either because our undergrad GPA is not up to par or because we think DAT is the most important test in the world. Either way relax! Trust me if you stress over it you will not do as well as you could. I have some experience with SAT and MCAT so I can tell you stressing will not make it happen.

Easier said than done.

you have to train yourself just like you train to take DAT. Taking any tests is an art. How do you think some people get 25s on DAT and have 2.9 gpa? They are good test takers.

I agree... go in the the attitude that you are going to dominate the test... You will be more confident, more relaxed, and wont second guess your self, in turn you will think more clearly... Even if you are scared to death, just keep lying to yourself that you are going to rock it, and it will all work out for the best... Sounds dumb, but try to pump yourself up like you would for a sporting event or something... It works and helps you to get mentally focused.

It isn't just about being a good test taker any more than it is just about knowing a crap load of information. While I think it is nice that you tell people to relax and not stress out too much...good general advice for most things in life...to simply say stressing will not help isn't true for everyone.

Plenty enough people use stress like fuel. Stressing out may not help you any, but it probably has helped out others. Sometimes I think people make too many over-arching generalizations based solely on their own personal experiences. Anyway...I suppose it really isn't a big deal. It's not like anyone is probably going to read your advice and suddenly rid their lives of stress if they weren;t already well on their way to doing that.

I guess that solves my problem and all I needed to do was to not stresss... *slaps forehead* thank you so much rusty

yea not stressing is easier said than done.

I just think of it as just another speed bump in the journey of life lol

That's what I was saying like not stress, SUUUUUUUUURE, this test only pretty much determines how schools view, and how schools view me is what helps them decide if they want me, and if they don't want me, well, then I have to take that test over again to try and make them want me, and if they don't want me again then i'm pretty screwed cause there goes the career I wanted so bad. WHY WOULD I STRESS???????????? :scared:

"Type A personality, also known as the Type A Behavior Pattern, is a set of characteristics that includes being impatient, excessively time-conscious, insecure about one's status, highly competitive, hostile and aggressive, and incapable of relaxation.[1] Type A individuals are often highly achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about the smallest of delays. They have been described as stress junkies."

Sounds just about right...not my fault, dental school and the applying process is stressful 🙄

I have a better tip.

Study!
🙂
But seriously stress is not your enemy.. It keeps you on your toes.. and motivate you to prepare well.. So think of it that way.

Like a famous guy once said.

The key to winning any battle is to "know yourself, know your enemy"

Here's how it works.. you check yourself to see if you are ready for the DAT.
And then you learn as much as you can about your enemy.. the DAT...

You'll surely beat your enemy the DAT to a pulp... so uh.. what's the point of this???

GO STUDY!
