OK. So, here's the deal. I applied to UHCO January 20, my application was scheduled for review February 8 (today), I got an email this morning at 10 saying I had an interiew in two weeks, then I got another email this afternoon at 3 saying "Please disregard the e-mail that was sent to you previously regarding an interview at our campus. Due to a slight change, the on-campus interview will not be required of you at this time. Within the next few days you will receive a call from Dr. Shulman, Assistant Dean of the College of Optometry."

So I call UHCO and ask for them to elaborate. They said that Dr. Shulman just wants to talk to me, and to expect his call tomorrow, and that nothing's wrong with my application.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I never considered my application stellar enough to be a shoe-in ... so that makes me think this is bad. [3.4 GPA (3.5 prerecs), 340 OAT, finish b.s. biology in 3 years, normal extracurriculars, a lot of volunteering, normal LOR ... normal normal normal.] What do y'all think? Anybody ... and before tomorrow please!

Maybe they want to do a phone interview with you instead? or ask some questions to see if they should really grant u that interview? But they shouldn't offer u that interview then take it back...thats not right UNLESS it's for GOOD REASON. 🙂 So I think it's a good thing. If not, then that is not right and I would complain. You stats don't look bad.... Be prepared for any questions you think they may ask you on the phone...don't be nervous!!!

hope this helps...good luck!

I'm sure you're looking for advice from someone that may have experience something like this before.... Sorry I haven't. However, I just wanted to encourage you, what if Dr. so & so has a tight schedule and he/she's just trying to squeeze the interview in with a phone call because he/she doesn't want to miss an opportunity to accept a fabulous candidate like youself! Think positive- you have come a long way, you're almost there... You'll be fine!

EDIT: Oops mean't to reply to quailman not to CDN twin. Sorry About that hit the wrong "reply".

OK.

Dr. Shulman from UHCO called me yesterday (i wasn't expecting to hear anything until today) and asked if he could interview me. I said, "Sure, i'm in my car though, i hope that's OK. 🙂" And he was, like, "sure" and he asked me a dinky little question, like why i chose optometry or whatever, and then he told me i was accepted! I almost had a wreck because I had to process that AND turning left at the same time! Haha. Anyways ... that was an interesting way to get accepted. I was really surprised!

Momma told me the first thing she did when she found out was go to our optometrist's office (he's a good friend of ours) and tell him she wouldn't be needing his services in about 4 years. They had a good laugh. She's crazy, but wonderful!

Good luck to everyone else! These SDN forums have helped and comforted me a lot during this whole proccess!

Wow... acceptance and engagement... congratulations!!!!!!! My husband has been the biggest source of support in the admissions process, and I have no clue what I would have done without him!!! Best of luck to you and your fiancee. 😀 😀 😀
