I realized the other day that one of my recommendations was never sent - thus the letter packet that was sent to amcas has only 1 physics 1 math 2 humantiies and like 2 misc. recs (i.e. doctor, comp sci)

I have even completed some secondaries

As of now I'm going ot have 2 more recs by the end of the week

Now my question is should I keep submitting secondaries and will the schools jsut put my app as incomplete b/c of unfullfilled requirements such as not enough science etc or should I wait to submit these new recs?

Also can I even submit these new recs and will amcas just add them to my existing file?

I thought math counts as science?

My impression has been that you can submit a letter packet/committee letter OR individual letters consisting of x science, y humanities, etc. as determined by individual med. schools. I've never read that packets/committee letters must include a certain amount of letters from professors in different disciplines, though the undergrad. institution compiling the letter packet may have specific guidelines.
Is this wrong?

To Duder you are right med shcools usually require a certain number of science, humanities, etc..

In my current situation I only have 1 science 2 if you count math which many schools do not. For this reason I asked my questions does anyone have any idea how to answer any of them?

Please share which schools you know of that do not count math as a science.

I'm currently using math as a science and have been marked "complete" by a lot of schools requiring 2 sciences. I wonder if they simple mark me complete as soon as my stuff is in only to later ignore my application if they don't count it as a science. 😕

zempa, as theduder said, you are fine. You have a letter packet and so you don't need to worry about individual requirements.

Ye I mean I'm just trying to make sure, and I do have those 2 other recs coming in this week anyway..will they jsut be sent automatically to those schools

also I know that shcools like jefferson require 1 rec form chem, 1 form phsyics, 1 hmantiies, and 1 bio

and I have the same fear as you which is that schools will mark me complete but not look at my app because I didn't match LOR requirements

I guess I will amcas tomorrow and call some schools and let you know about math as a science

8 letters is a lot....
And don't bother calling Jefferson. They are fine with people not fulfilling those specifications. The application allows you to explain why you don't have those letters.

Let me know if you find anything out for certain schools!

Can't you just call them? maybe that will help...

Um, 6 letters is already 2 or 3 too many. It's not a good sign if you need a lot of letters to make yourself look good. Most schools will not even read them all, they will choose a couple and pass the rest. You want to make sure the letters they read are the best they can be.
