Hello, I am wondering if anyone can give me a link or tell me all the pre-reqs to most Pharmacy schools. Also, I would like to know some info on salary, lifestyle, etc... I really do not have much idea about it. I am a pre-med student that is still debating on where to apply, and from what I understand pharmacy might be something I am really interested in instead of Med school. Any info would help, Thanks

One thing about pharmacy that is more appealing in my opinion than med school is that you don't have to stay in one location...Doctors seem to set up an office, then after they have a number of regular patients it's harder or at least seems like it would be harder to move somewhere and start over. That's not an issue for many pharmacists. You could work for a pharmacy in Florida, then move to Virginia if you wanted and still be able to make a nice living.

I've been trying to think of all the advantages and disadvantages to different professions lately since the pre-reqs for pharmacy, do, optometry, chiropractic, dentistry, and other professions are very similar.

Pre-requisites usually include Gen. Chem 1 & 2, Organic Chem 1 & 2, Biology 1 & 2, Anatomy and Physiology (either seperately or in 2 sections), College Algebra, Calculus (not always), Physics (not always) among other things such as economics, speech, etc. Generally pre-reqs take a minimum of two years and consist of general education plus the key sciences. There is some variation and to get an idea go to Pharmcas.org and look at the school pages; you can view pre-reqs for each school that uses pharmcas.
Salary in retail seems to be between 90-100K starting in several areas. There is variation on this as well. There are also so many other practice setting and salaries will differ. Salary.com is pretty accurate.
