So i submitted the applications back in november for VCU and UNC and haven't heard back from them. If they were to reject me, they would send me a letter right? Or would they not contact me at all??

They would not reject you without sending an email or letter. I also applied to UNC and no word yet. Right now, I think no word is better than rejection!

For a majority of the schools, they mail out rejections toward the end of the application cycle. Rejections normally come out via snail mail, but they can shoot you an email letter that they don't want you too. I recently got a rejection email letter from UT-Memphis and Creighton via snail mail.

Last year I applied to UNC a few days before their deadline (Nov 1). I didn't hear anything until about mid-February, and that is when I got an interview invite. Some schools just take awhile and slowly keep accepting people for interviews.

I applied to VCU and couple of other schools. I dont think they dont decide final on ur app until their deadline passes away. So in other words NO NEWS = GOOD NEWS 🙂

haha...i guess i'm just a bit impatient. Especially since i would have to buy plane tickets and book hotel rooms within a maybe 2-3 weeks notice. 😵

I really hope to hear back soon...VCU and UNC are my top choices.

No News is not Good news. No news = not necessarily bad news, but in no way is it ever good news. Faulty logic. Esp because the longer it takes the more likely you are either waitlisted or being picked from the bottom of the barrel. They contact the cream of the crop first and they contact the the bottom of the barrel last. Because if by some odd chance that all the students they accept turn down the acceptances, the schools then have to resort to the less desirable applicants.

OP: I'm not trying to be mean. I just want you to keep your hopes down so you can be excited and thrilled if I am wrong. I just definitely don't want anyone to feel crushed later. Let's keep things realistic and humble for now.

Well said "determined" Kirbypuff. I don't know who started that stupid saying, "no news is good news" but it's certainly not true. No news = you're either put on hold or rejected. If they wanted to interview you, they would contact you, which would be news. No news is actually the worst scenario I could think of because not are you most likely on hold or rejected, you're waiting and checking your e-mail every 30 minutes.

Most schools do not give much advance notice. Three weeks is rather generous, two weeks is generally the norm. If you hear back much later in the app cycle they will most likely give you one of the last interview dates which means there is less flexibility.

well good luck! be patient!~ i haven't heard from many schools too. i am def crossing my fingers and hoping that academic update will help me ^^

NO news = NO worry, you have no evident or fact that you are put on hold or still be considered. I suggest stay cool, and apply for more schools, do well in the class, keep yourself busy.

Thanks for the response guys!

I guess the main message i'm getting here is that there are no certainties from uncertainties. So while i'm not losing hope [completely] from schools i haven't heard from, i just need to be realistic about all this. I know what kind of chances I have of getting in. I know my strengths, my weaknesses and the contributions I can offer to the field of pharmacy. I've taken pharmD level courses, and I know exactly what to expect if and when I get in. Yes, I've made mistakes...but who hasn't. I honestly did not expect to be offered 5 interviews; apparently they saw something in me. So, although it may be late in the game, I'm determined to make these last few months of my undergraduate academic career...my best.

Good luck to everyone applying.
Even though you guys are my competition...we are, afterall, still chasing after the same dream =)
