I hear Kaplan for DAT prep because...

I heard the DAT prep through Kaplan was really good because of their practice tests. I heard their practice tests are almost identical to the test and are a great way to gauge your knowledge.

Thoughts?

I have a whole gap year so I'm always down for advice on how to study...

really ?! One quick search will tell you why you should stay away from these prep courses for DAT studying.
DAT destroyer, BC (and DAT genius) Qvault Bio, Math Destroyer is all that is needed.

Wondering why you made two posts because you could have just put this under the other one...Nevertheless, your statement is incorrect. If you would go onto the DAT forums you will see that everyone advises AGAINST it. Get Bootcamp as well as DAT Destroyer and also Feralis notes (which are FREE ptl) and you should do much better than you would if you took a Kaplan course (as well as save yourself a ton of money).

You only need two or three (max) prep materials for the DAT. I recommend destroyer and bootcamp. Both of those will prepare you for the DAT. If you don't have a solid chemistry background then subscribe to chads videos and that will be more than enough.

Bootcamp has practice exams. But always remember only the score you get at the prometric center is the one that counts.

Yeah Bootcamp have 10 practice exams which is plenty. Don't be discouraged by the scores you get on there. I ended up scoring on average, 3-4 points better on the actual test than I had been on any of their tests. It really prepares you for testing conditions. Also, DAT Destroyer will destroy you but it is so worth it.

Side note- didn't do great on QR because that recently changed. If it had changed a long time ago my score would have been better so make sure to add GRE math practice to whatever you do.

DO NOT USE KAPLAN! Bootcamp is the most identical, maybe harder (which is good). DAT genius seemed to have decent free practice tests.

Kaplan is a waste of money and is not worth the $1000+.

Used Kaplan self pace one, stopped about halfway. Wasn't for me. Don't know if the in person version is better. Their general approach seemed like it's either their way or you are wrong, Even if your way is quicker and makes more sense to you. They also had some mistakes in their book, but maybe they fixed those... I'm guessing it's only good for people who really really need the structure otherwise they wil be completely lost....

I went 2 months into Kaplan, did the practice tests... ended up postponing my DAT for 1 month to make time for destroyer. Wish I just spent my time doing destroyer and bootcamp instead of kaplan... It's not worth the money IMO. I did like the 5 full length tests but the price tag on them was not worth it. If you got money to blow, go for it. I'd rather use the money to apply to 10 more schools or travel.
