that's actually really clever

hey, I'm going to the APhA nationals, I'm going to grab a few of these for my bedroom switches.... just need to reverse the wiring on the switches first... :p

BTW there will still be freebies. Not every pharma company has stopped pens, etc. only the major ones. And all the other organizations are giving out tons of stuff too... so leave some space in your suitcases if you are going to APhA. :D The first couple times I went to APhA and ASHP (and yes, freebies were way cooler back then) I took too much junk, and my suitcase barely closed (also because I was gathering a lot of paper, which I meant to use in my studying/practice, but they still ended up in the recycling bin)... now I am smart (and my shoulders can no longer deal with heavy bags) and only take what I really could use... everything fits into the outside pocket of the suitcase...

...why did they stop giving out pens? And why the hell is Congress/FDA still allowing DTC advertising?

Oh right most of the government is in big pharma's pocket already. Forgot!

Howcome reps are not allowed to give out pens anymore?

It's not really law. It's a guideline brought out by the PhRMA Code. However, those that don't follow the code are frowned upon...so everyone basically follows the code. This issue in particular is basically a guideline to reinforce ethical and responsible interactions with healthcare professionals.

Maybe we can take DTC away. DTD marketing should be wiped out too. Hope to see that happen if health care reform actually gets moving.
