BTW there will still be freebies. Not every pharma company has stopped pens, etc. only the major ones. And all the other organizations are giving out tons of stuff too... so leave some space in your suitcases if you are going to APhA. 😀 The first couple times I went to APhA and ASHP (and yes, freebies were way cooler back then) I took too much junk, and my suitcase barely closed (also because I was gathering a lot of paper, which I meant to use in my studying/practice, but they still ended up in the recycling bin)... now I am smart (and my shoulders can no longer deal with heavy bags) and only take what I really could use... everything fits into the outside pocket of the suitcase...
