I have to ask another do I have a shot question!

I got some Cs (one in human sexuality..no jokes....one in organic 1) and got a C- in calc two semesters before I graduated...

My overall UGAD GPA is a 3.2 and my science GPA is a 3.1 I believe. I got a 25 on the MCAT. Now I am doing a masters program in physiology and am planning on taking the MCAT again in April 2006.

Do you guys think I have a shot anywhere?? I really want to go to AZCOM, TUCOM-NV, or LECOM...

Anyone with these or lower stats apply to schools and get in? Some encouragment would be awesome!

I hope I do not get...we can only tell if you apply...I can't wait that long...thanks for all the support!

I don't think you needed to do the masters or retake the MCAT. You'll get in places with your current stats.

AZCOM (and i imagine all DO schools) are great at looking at experience working in medicine, research, and volunteer work just as much as your C's in calc. If you get your masters and do well...retaking the MCAT probably wouldn't be needed.

I had approx. your stats except a 26 MCAT and got 7 interviews...AZCOM, DMU, CCOM, KCOM, NOVA, VCOM, and TCOM. I only went to 4 interviews and got into all 4 places...AZCOM, NOVA, VCOM and DMU. It's not all about your stats at DO schools, so just remember that when you are reviewing your personal statement and when going to interviews. You need a personality that fits the school, and be able to interview well. You'll be nervous but don't stress out too much. All my interviews were relaxed. And if you aren't applying this year, since I don't really keep up with anyone I odn't know if you have applied for this year, make sure you apply early next year. EARLY IS KEY!!! Apply as soon as they let you. Have everything ready to go. And don't worry about the master's program. Some students I know took an anatomy class, which I wish I would've done. They were able to see dissections before med school started and I must say, they help us out a lot. Happy applying!

Yes I think you have a shot at these schools - but apply very broadly. Have good extracurriculars, letters of recommendation, and personal statement - these things are very important for osteopathic school. Be relaxed, confident, thoughtful, and enthusiastic at your interviews. Good luck!

If you really wanted to goto DO schools, your numbers are fine. If you have strong extracurricular activities (ie: shadowing, clinical exposure, and so on), I don't see why you are worried.

I had C in Organic Chemistry, but I've managed to get accepted. My MCAT is not much better than yours with 26.

I just decided that you havent been given info that you must want to be hearing. because you seem to post just about every week asking everybody if you have a chance and everyone always tells you that you do. so maybe what you are hoping for is somebody to tell you that you have no chance in the world. so that is my advice, do not apply. yes we do hate this and we will hate you for it. quit posting "do I have a chance" threads. Nobody wants to read them anyways!

Everyone told me before I applied to give up. My undergrad GPA was 2.23. I wnet back and took 2 years post-bacc. sciences ONLY to boost my GPA to a almost 4.0 sci. GPA and nearly a 2.8 overall GPA.

I got into 4 DO school after 4 consecutive years of applying (the 4th try I got in!). But I couldn't survive once there. I was buried in workload and was never a great student, at fulltime school hence my undergrad GPA in a NON science field no less too!

Thus I simply flunked out. I couldn't motivate to study at all, let alone at the pace needed for med school. Just make absolutely sure you're ready and competent to handle a tough courseload. It's not getting there that's hard -- its STAYING there -- without a supportive environment telling you, "you SHOULD be there and we will work WITH you (reducing courseload, etc.) to KEEP you there."

Just my .02 cents.

Thank you to all of you who gave me some support and I am hoping to do well in my masters program and hope to do better on the April 2006 MCAT....going to start studying for that now...

I bet you could get into AZCOM with those stats. Don't know about the other 2.
