I am going to be kicking myself all weekend!!!!!!!

😡

I interviewed this morning for a very good part-time job with an amazing spinal cord research facility!!

The interview was going very very well. The interviewer even said that I am sounding like a good fit.

Then, out of the blue he asked me an anatomical question about spinal cord injury/nerve roots. I made a mistake by 1 level. He chuckled and said, "no worries, I'm not going to quiz you, it comes with experience".

I felt like such an idiot. I'm pretty sure I blew the interview with that answer.

I find out by Tuesday night next week. I want to cry.

Is it best to just accept that I blew it?? or is there a slim slim chance since I had a great interview overall (minus a dumb mistake!!).

Chill out, holy crap. You're going to crumple if/when you ever get pimped. It's not like you can do anything about it now. That's nothing.

Haha thanks!! I'm not really in as much "panic" as my first post would have you think.

I know it's dumb, being off by one spinal level on an easy dumb question.

It's just that I really wanted the job, and obviously they'll remember that I got it wrong, if someone else got it right.

Anyway, reading over my initial post, I realize it may make me seem a lil 'crazy' but really I'm not feeling that stressed about it.

none of us can answer this stupid question

I don't even know what a 'level' is

You've clearly blown it. Black-listed from ever even being in a room with a spine. Better start mastering those eye-movement controlled wheelchairs as they'll surely send someone to cripple you in the near future...

So you think you screwed up, and it doesn't even sound like it's that big a deal...So, what good does it do to let people know about it? It's water under the bridge at this point.

Write a nice thank you note, and then move on. Nothing else that can be done about it now, and honestly, interviewers do realize that people are bit stressed during the interview and may fumble. It probably wouldn't blow an otherwise excellent interview out of the water. I have alot of experience with interviewing applicants for hire, and the ability to deal gracefully with a mistake is as important as the ability to recall facts during an interview.

His response gives you the answer to your question. You didn't blow it.

Well, at least you did better than Kumar did in his medical school interview at the beginning of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. If you haven't seen the movie, buy/rent it. That scene alone is worth every penny.
