tried taking 13 credits while working about 38 hours, and just now realizing that I ****ed up. Grades are not where I want them to be, and I have about 2-3 other W's from my CC (when I was doing dual enrollment in HS), but at uni now. W's are in two science classes (one being orgo 1 and the other a biology class.

Am i ****ed? sorry for the bad language, but I'm feeling really down. What do you all recommend I do? I'm thinking I just take these W's now, and come stronger than ever next semester. Opinions?

W's will always be better than poor grades. So, now you are at 4-5 W's in total. No more, but you are not "****ed"

Medical school love to see improvements!
Work harder in your academics, next semester (and in future semesters to come!) You will be fine 🙂
You can also mention about this in your med school app.

Any more opinions?

Also, forgot to mention that I had gotten a C in microbiology in my first semester at uni (summer). This probably changes everything...so my expected transcript will look something like this:

Summer:
Microbiology - C

Fall:
O-Chem - W
BSC - W
2 humanities - A's

I'm so ****ed. It just looks so damn ugly.

Adcoms, please help!

If my GPA is still goo 3.7 for cumulative and science, and my MCAT is good (about a ~510), will any of this ugly transcript crap still really matter??

It's ok...do not worry! You should definitely retake the W-s and if you want to, retake the Microbio

13 credits isn't a lot and yet you had to drop 2classes? (I know you are working 38 hours but...)Read some of the threads in here and you'll see people taking 18 hours, working two jobs, doing volunteer work etc. You need to figure out a time management program quickly or this will keep happening. And that is more concerning than some Ws in your transcript.

I appreciate the criticism, and this is what I'm looking for. However, anyone saying they're doing all of that stuff and getting A's is flat out lying. Most of what's portrayed in SDN is completely false, and in fact, most pre-meds I see in real life are not working at all.

You really think it's even necessary to mention?

OP if you think everyone lies on SDN then why bother posting? It doesn't make sense to me but I guess you will believe stuff if it fits your story. Whatever-good luck and you really do need to figure out a time management system that works for you. It will be very helpful as you progress through college and beyond.

I think that "everyone lies on SDN." Where are you getting this from???

have you ever worked 35+ hours while taking 13 credits, including organic chemistry and a high level bio class? And yuo're telling me there are people pulling A's AND volunteering on top of all of that. I'm sorry, but that is extremely unrealistic and must be a very rare occurrence.

I do agree with you that my time management needs to be better, and that's something I'm working on.

Putting the exceptionally high chance OP is a troll to the side, yes, that stuff is doable. I know a handful of good friends who work in two labs, have a job, volunteer (clinical and non clinical) and involved in other orgs with 15 credits a semester. Are they always busy? Absolutely? But is it doable? Absolutely. They just have ridiculous time management and loads of energy.

labs + jobs + volunteer = ~about 38-40 hours according to my calculations. does it not?

And about time management, I completely agree. I need to find a way to get it together.

and no, im not a troll. don't understand why everyone thinks that.

Most pre-meds in real life do not become med students. Only 44% of applicants are accepted. What you've described is absolutely possible, but it is not absolutely necessary. You've identified some possibilities for improvement, namely time management; start there.

Sorry, but nobody is working two full time jobs, taking 20 units, volunteering, doing research, etc and getting straight A's unless they are literally a genius who doesn't study. Even then, there would barely be enough hours in a week to squeeze in going to class. Working 40 hours a week and doing all that stuff... sure. But working two full time jobs? No.

The other poster did. And if he meant two part time jobs then that is the same as one full time job. People who say "I work three jobs" yet never top 40 hours a week make my eyes roll.
