Hello everyone, i am in my sophomore year of undergrad now, and i am planing to take my DAT in the upcoming summer (which will be the summer of my sophomore and junior year). Im not sure if that is too soon but for now that might be the plan. I also plan to take a kaplan course that same summer before the DAT. But i am taking orgo II next semester and i am wondering what other science class should i take to prepare a more for the DAT. I wish i could take biochem, but for biochem i would need to have completed my orgo II first.

Is it important to take biochem before you take the DAT, because if i do i would have to push the DAT towards a later date. and i want to leave the summer of my juinior and senior year for the application process alone.

Thanks in advance for you response.

It wouldn't hurt to have biochem, anatomy & physiology ... taken before your DAT as these courses would ultimately resurface in the first two years of studies at the dental schools.

I wouldn't say it was necessary, but biochem helped me a lot for the bio section. I guess if youre looking to score reeaallly high in bio, biochem is highly recommended. If youre just hoping to get +/- 21 on bio, then go ahead and forgo biochem. I also found that anatomy helped a lot.

I'm in the same exact situation. I'm a sophmore planning on taking it this summer, Im currently in O chem 1 and genetics and next semester i'm planning on taking o chem 2 and either mol. cell bio or human physiology....any advice on which one i should take? taking human phsiology would mess with my schedule alittle so one year i'll have to take biochem and mol cell bio same semester 😡, so is physiology worth taking?

Yeah, im in orgo 1 and genetics this semester as well. what i hear is that anatomy and physiology is a good class to take before the DAT. But i am not sure yet, thats why i am seeking help from those who had some experience with similar situations in the past.

btw, thank you very much for your comments, they been helpful
