so ive read the kaplan book once all the way through and now just finished making flash cards....now im looking for a tutor in the san luis obispo/ santa barbara county, california area...

if you guys/gals know of any please let me know of their info so i can get a hold of them...thanks!

Why dont you try and learn from other study materials such as destroyer, cliffs, exam kracker, topscore, achiever, etc... these materials will give you more insight on what the DAT is really about. If these fail (most likely wont), then get a tutor... I believe kaplan has private tutors...

Good luck.

thanks for the heads up but i want to give the whole tutor thing a try...im sooooo sick of reading!

haha

do you know how i can get a hold of a kaplan tutor?

Yes, Kaplan tutors are expensive, I should know since I am one. However, the tutor can make a difference if you score well on the test or not. Therefore, you have to ask yourself how much money that's worth.

For example, if you already spent three weeks studying for the DAT on your own and on your practice tests, and you were scoring 15's & 16's on the PAT & quant, it's unlikely that studying on your own for another two weeks will get your scores into the 19's & 20's. A good tutor will show you the tricks and fast methods to nail PAT and quant questions in 30 seconds. If you don't know these tricks, or the most efficient problem solving methods, it's unlikely you're going to see major jumps in your scores on your own.

Keep in mind that if your scores are 17's or lower on your real DAT, your may be heading for a disappointing application year. I think that a strong DAT score is worth a few thousand dollars.

I'm far from being a "baller" sorta speak but i do believe that the money for a kaplan tutor is an investment rather than a waste...and if you think about it its little money compared to what you'll be making so on that note I would love to set up an appointment....just let me know where to sign up!

Go to the kaplan.com to Graduate Test Prep to DAT. From there, you should be able to purchase tutoring hours. My recommendation is make sure that you let Kaplan know what sections you need the most help with, especially if you need help with PAT and QR. That way, Kaplan will try to hook you up with a tutor that is strong in the subject area you need help with.

Because the hourly rate is so high, if you are not happy with your tutor within the first two hours, make sure to complain and get a new tutor.

Good luck.
