I was very immature my first couple of years, and school was not on top of my priorities. I think I got below a 1.0 GPA in my first quarter. I started to turn it around in the middle of my 3rd year. I graduated with an overall GPA of 2.78 and a science GPA of 2.72 as a biology major. I knew that I had to raise my GPA if I wanted to have a shot at dental school.
I just finished a one year master's degree with a 3.6 GPA. My cumulative GPA went up to 2.90 science and overall GPA. I have done a lot of research (1000+ hours), a lot of shadowing (1000+), I've also gone on a dental mission trip, I had several leadership positions at school , I also worked full-time my first 2 years, and part-time the remaining 3 years. I am planning to retake my DATs (17/18/23) in April/May.
Should I apply to dental schools next summer, or do a postbac, raise my GPA to 3.0-3.1, and apply the year after? I am not sure what to do... :S
