Okay so here is the deal, I don't know if I should take the MCAT again to get into an MD program in the continental US.
GPA: 3.68
MCAT: 29N; 9 V, 10 P, 10 B

I have also volunteered at a hospital for a year, shadow and do clinical research for a primary care physician, participated in a undergrad research fellowship and had a poster presentation, work as a resident advisor, and volunteered in medical clinic in El Salvador.

What would you say my chances are of getting in currently? Also, do you recommend taking the MCAT again even if I only marginally improve?

According to AMCAS statistics collected over the last three years, applicants with your numbers had a fair chance of an acceptance somewhere (59.6%): https://www.aamc.org/data/facts/applicantmatriculant/table24-mcatgpa-grid-3yrs-app-accpt.htm .

The ECs you've mentioned sound good. Do you have any leadership (maybe the RA activity, depending on what you do) or teaching? And don't forget to list your hobbies. I hope you'll continue the hospital volunteering next semester so you'll have at least the average amount of clinical experience of 1.5 years.

Whether you need to retake the MCAT or not depends on the state you're from and if you think you could score at least 3 more points if you retake. If your state schools are all highly selective, reconsider retaking if the odds given to you about aren't good enough for you.

well..
realistically your states are pretty good
yes, your mcat could use a few extra points..
but otherwise your a balanced score basically. so i think as long as you can do a amazing interview your good
btw. shadow another doctor for about 20 hours.
then from that, your application is amazing.

We have similar stats and I would say go with what you got unless you think you can do 3+ points better on the MCAT.

What state is your instate?

I am in Ohio. I would like to get into Wright State or University of Toledo or University of Cincinnati ideally. Thank you for your feedback!

What were your practice test scores like? If they were consistently above 30, I would retake.

I second this... You have a great app--if you have been killing your practice MCATs, you could go for a second round.... but I took the MCAT three times... lol, so I am probably biased...

I think when you apply, you will hear back for interviews and probably get at least one acceptance.

best of luck.

I think your chances are decent at one of your state schools. I wouldn't retake the MCAT unless you are confident that you can score several points better.
