Let's take a vote. I have no help from my advisors. 1 says I should do a masters, but I'm worried about my low gpa and getting prescreened for med school.

So should I....

1. Take 20 credits worth of classes this summer and fall to get my gpa to a 3.11

2. Start a master's program in Fall through IU (it is not an SMP 🙁 )

The master's I am accepted into I can start in Jan, and I was also hoping to apply to BUMAMs and apply for Jan.

I also need to retake my MCAT and I plan on taking it in January.

Please, any guidance is really appreciated because I can't really figure what to do.

Are you planning on completing the masters program?

yes I would finish it (it's 1 year)

Between the two, I think your best bet is to do a Master's program. However, if it's not a science-related Masters, then I don't think it'll help you much. I wouldn't do the extra 20 credits because you would have to pull off really good grades to even make a slight improvement in your GPA. In your situation, I would aim for a really high MCAT score, which will be the best way to offset a low GPA. Hoped that helps!
