Hi,

I am taking the DAT on August 14 and I started studying from June 23. I am taking the kaplan course and have looked over the math and almost am finishing the bio section of the kaplan book. A lot of people are saying that the bio section of the kaplan is not good and I need to score above a 20 to be on a save boat with dental schools. I also just bought the DAT destroyer and the CRack dat pat to help me learn better. I study about 7 hours a day. I guess my question is, will i be prepared by August 14, and for ochem and gchem should i just study from the DAT destroyer and review the bio from the dat destroyer and put the kaplan book aside? Can anybody please help me becuase I feel my time is limited. Thanks so much.

If u'll be ready by your date is solely up to u. U and i are basically in the same boat where preparation time till due date is concerned. I don't mind a study buddy. PM me.

You have enougth time as long as you are really studying hard, which it sounds like you are. I honestly think that kaplan is good enough for chem and ochem. If you know kaplan for these sections well, then you should be able to score over 20 on these two sections. Yes, kaplan is not good enough for biology. It does help to know kaplan, it just isn't complete enough. Destroyer is good. Its also not a bad idea to pick up a copy of Cliff's AP Biology book or Schaum's outline of biology for a really good review of biology. The only other suggestion I have is to get topscore - its a CD with some practice tests that are a lot more accurate than the prep exams you get from kaplan or anyother book. Good luck to you.

You don't need more than 3 weeks for studying unless you are shooting for 30. You already got your materials, and it's very unlikely that you will be reading the whole cambell textbook. At the end of studying, you will have studied for 7 weeks. Thus, you have more than enough time.

Bruinlove... I disagree with your statement that "you don't need more than 3 weeks to study unless you are shooting for 30". Everyone's situation is different. Everyone has different life situations, mental capacities, studying habits, efficiency during studying, etc. BANDZHARIAN... ultimately you control your own fate... you know yourself better than anyone else and you know how little/hard you have to study. 7 weeks is still a good amount of time - of course i understand that it may not seem like much say compared to if you had 3,4 months right? Have you taken any practice exams to see where you're at right now? If not, I suggest you do that and make a realistic goal for yourself.
