Hello, everyone I just have a question about early admission Im kinda of stuck on whether to apply too texas tech or UH or if you guys thing there are any other schools for early ad that fits my situation please let me know. I just want too know if I'm applying too the right school for early admission, and my stats are not the best. My GPA is 3 and my PCAT is 65 percent I have been working as a technician for about 6 years now volunteer at hospital and also involve in various organizations with my school. so I just want too know which school I have a better chance of getting accept to for early admission.

Although your academic stats are not as competitive as other applicants (for most schools), your very high activity of extracurricular is a very big benefit. I would say apply to both so that way you can fall back on one if the other doesn't work out. The more applications you send out, the higher your chance of getting into a pharmacy school (although it is a lot of money for travel and application fees but this is your future at stake). Good Luck!

Your GPA is about the average for most pharmacy school applicants so that's good. Your PCAT score definitely says you need to retake it. If you are applying this fall, try to see if there are any pharmacy schools you would have interest in that are non-PCAT based. If the school you have the most interest in is a PCAT based school, then definitely retake it. Pharmacy schools will definitely take into account the quantitative section, but not as much as chem and bio which you showed strong ability in. What are your extracurriculars?

I'm not saying your chances of getting into a PCAT based score are 0%, but it still is slim with that score. But whatever you do, do not get discouraged! You are very good with the biology and chemistry portions which is what most pharmacy schools look at so that is one of the benefits of your PCAT scores. Verbal is so annoying It seriously is the troll of all sections on the PCAT they can literally take ANY word out there! :bang:

I am dreading it big time when I take the PCAT. I haven't really done much with my application just yet because I wan't to wait until I get the grade for my A & P class then send my transcripts from Wayne. I am doing well in this class and am projected to finish with an A- or A at the pace I've been going at so I would definitely like them to see this grade. How about you?

I am doing Tech, Houston and UNT . Yes I signed up for the other one but this will be my third
test.

That is very good extracurricular especially the Pharm tech and volunteering so that's also a boost to your stats. Your PCAT score is the deciding factor. If you can retake the PCAT and get a minimum of 75th percentile, your resume would look a lot stronger. Hope this helped a bit. Good Luck!

Yeah thats actually the same with me. My GPA is great and I have some volunteering experience in the nursing department at my local hospital but I still wanna shadow a pharmacist before I send my application. The good thing about Wayne is that only 5% of your admission decision is based on extracurricular while 70% is just based on GPA and PCAT score. I'm sure that some kind of experience in a pharmacy like shadowing or some other exposure to it would be sufficient enough to get the 5%. What is your GPA like?

With that GPA and your PCAT score I can honestly say your chances of getting in are very strong depending on how you do on the interview (which is 25% of the admission decision). Wayne State's average applicants admitted had a 3.7 pre-req GPA, 3.6 science GPA, and about a 75th percentile PCAT. If you shadow a pharmacist I think you're set for the most part. I think one of my pharmacy student mentors told me that the GPA range from last years class admitted was between 3.15-3.91 so you are definitely on the top of the chain with that GPA. My wayne state GPA is a 3.76 right now and my PharmCAS gpa including my grades from my community college I went to for my first year of college would be around a 3.65. I didn't take any science classes at my community college and I only had one retake (D+, then an A in political science). With Wayne, I started out my first year there with about a 3.66 GPA and I have have an upward trend on my GPA even after taking all the harder classes like pre-calc, calc, microbio, orgo 1, and currently A & P (A- at the moment). I also have never gotten a grade less than a B+ at Wayne State with all the classes I took. So I am pretty confident with my GPA. Lets just hope Dr. Collins works his magic on my PCAT score because that is gonna be my deciding factor most likely alongside the interview (if I get called for one).

I really hope i get in. Its a good school and close to my home. If you need help on PCAT or have any questions on math, bio, and chem just ask. Also who are you planning on asking for LOR? I am asking my bio professor and this dr that taught at my high school.

I am confident that you will just stay optimistic at all times! And thank you I appreciate that. But I am getting one from my organic chem professor and I can easily get one from my coworker at the endoscopy company I work at but I would prefer to get one from a pharmacist that I shadow because that would be more significant. I wonder how much of an impact LORs have on your admission decision.

I am wondering the same thing. Also the personal statement i am not sure how important it is

I feel like I am in the same place. 64 PCAT, 3.7 GPA, just started as a pharm tech in June. I'm retaking the PCAT in September. I went into it without any studying or preparation. The reading comp was what killed me. :/
