Hi

I am a miniority who attends the University of Houston and I am here cracking my brain to see if I should stay there and graduate or transfer to more prestige school. The reason I am worrying is because I read that Xavier is the #1 for placing African-Americans into medical school. What should I do? I want to really maxmize my chances of getting into medical school. Is St. John's University in Queens, New York a good school? What majors are good for medical school? Thanks.

i'm not sure if this is a joke, but assuming it's not......

the way to maximize your chances is by maintaining a high GPA, taking courses you find interesting, demonstrating a committment to things outside academics (volunteering, etc), receiving strong letters of recommendation, and, of course, doing well on the MCAT

there would be a negligible to zero difference due to a school transfer, assuming all other variables are held equal.

As far as majors go, just major in whatever you find interesting and make sure to take the prereq science classes and a few useful upper level courses, such as physiology, biochemistry, and genetics.
