Hi all,

So I am planning to take CK on March 28, so I have a little less than 6 weeks left for prep. I took NBME 6 a few days ago and scored a 560, or equivalent to 250.

My goal for CK is to get into the 260s. Does anyone have advice? I started doing MTB 2/3 but found after a few days I was not really learning that much, maybe a few factoids here and there. So I was thinking about just going real hard on UWorld until my exam, and reviewing my weak areas with Step Up to Step 2. I am just afraid that won't be enough, as everyone on these forums seems to have read like 3-4 books cover to cover.

So my biggest question is, will UWorld and some spot reviewing in weak areas be enough to raise my score 15 points or so?

ANY advice would be really appreciated!

Uworld us enough to get your score into 270+ territory. An nbme of 250 does not mean your step 2 ck will be 250. I got 240s in both nbme exams (including one taken just 4 days before the real thing) and got a 270+. You do not need MTB or other books to do well, careful reading of Uworld explanations is enough.

Thanks. All you used for prep was UWorld?

Nah. UW is enough only if you studied your tail off for the Shelf exams.

I was >260 and all I used was UW

Same.

I'll add that I had a strong foundation, doing good (but not great) on all my shelf exams throughout third year. Also did the medicine clerkship right before I took CK so all the IM stuff was very fresh and I only had to spend about a week doing the UW questions for every other area. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much I remembered just from learning stuff pretty well the first time during my clerkships.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I also just finished Medicine (I heard the best time to take CK was right after Medicine, which is why I am taking it soon)... did very well on the shelf... my problem area is definitely OB/Gyn, and Surgery is the only core I haven't done yet. I think I might take a day to review MTB 3 OB/Gyn and Surgery sections...

I would wait until you're done with all core rotations, including surgery, plus an EM/ent/ophtho elective can be helpful.
