hey guys...i am new to this site and my buddy recommended it to me...

i did my undergraduate from Pitzer College in Claremont California in Science, Technology, & Society with premed courses along the way.

My overall gpa is approx 2.4-2.6
My science gpa is close to 2.0

i have taken my mcats once and received low 20s and will be taking it again in the next few months...i am on recently thinking about dental school instead of medical school..

i need help trying to figure out programs to do my M.A.M.S or MS in bio or post bac programs to help boost my gpa and allow me entrance to prehealth schools (medical/dentistry)

any and all help would be appreciated...thanks

Dental and Medical school are pretty different as are the careers. Why the sudden change, is it because you don't think you will get into a medical program? If that is the case, unfortunately you will that dentistry isn't the back door to a health profession that it was once thought as. It is nearly as competitive as an MD program and more competitive than a DO program. Your grades are way under par, so much so that I am not sure a masters will suffice.

Your MCAT scores are unimpressive, but will have no bearing on dental school. Save the fact that when dental schools find out you tried to go medical, couldn't gain acceptance and then switched to dental, they will likely dismiss you. If you really want to get into a health profession, you may want to complete a bach and then try for DO, pharm, PA or something along those lines. Hell, you could be an ADHP. Sorry to be so blunt, but you have the odds stacked against you.

I hear the Caribbeans knocking on your door...

ohh and everything that the person above me said...

Good luck though.

Caribbeans require higher than his/her stats. St Georges/Ross are around 3.4 GPA and a decent MCAT (if I recall correctly). If you are willing to travel, I would look into Polish, Hungarian or Czech programs. There are some reputable schools that care more about your money and ability to pass a reasonably easy entrance exam.

first off

i havent applied to medical school yet...simply took the mcats once

the change of heart really is about realizing my abilities and wanting that lifestyle more..not because of the acceptance factor..i have no problem goin international for medical school i just don't think once I get there it will be for me given the lifestyle afterwards - having said that do you guys think if i can do exceptional in a ms in bio or some science it would give me some hope

let me know..thanks for the help guys
