OK, I go to a pretty large university, over 20,000 students total. I dont know exactly how many are undergraduates, but I know there is an overwhelming amount of premed students here. I have kinda always known this fact, but Im just now realizing some of the adversed effects this can have on my application process. what I need opinions on is wheter or not I should change half way through my junior year to a realitively smaller school;one with 4,000 students?

dont change schools. that will give you enough of a headache as is. your school probably has a better rep anyway. besides, the number of premeds who drop out is also overwhelming.

Let your ECs, GPA, MCAT, distinguish you rather than your undergraduate institution.

Thats the thing the only reason I stayed at this school for so long is because of the reputation it carries....but it seem like they dont reall hold up to that rep....I kinda feel like my pre-professional office is spead to thin as well as the professors here.

I wouldn't either. Your school is considered more competitive for that reason. I have friends at smaller (unranked) undergrad institution and while they get more face time with their students, I think you are a slightly more competitive student with a higher GPA from a larger school than a smaller one.

Dont worry. I remember when I first started out as a freshman at U of I at Chicago, EVERYONE was premed. I mean, I'm not kidding... anyone I asked turned out to be premed. It was ridiculous!

However, I soon realized that as I moved from freshman to sophomore to junior to senior, the number of premeds dropped significantly every year. Your "WEED-er" classes such as genetics, physics, organic chemistry, and others were a big part in "weed-ing" out the haves from the have-nots and essentially narrow the premed pool greatly as your batch moves along.

Dont worry about it. Try hard, study and you will be fine.
