I am really overwhelmed with all the cards I have from the last block that I simply have not kept up with. To top it all off, going through them now I am getting every single card wrong, realizing that I don't have a grasp of the content so marking 'again' and making it so that they'll reappear sooner. This in addition to the new cards I'll have to do this block, I know I won't be able to keep up from day one. Any advice on what I can do?? I feel like I wasted all this time last block because I can't remember any of the info anymore but should I just suspend all these cards and start from scratch for the upcoming block?

One option would be to put your new cards with this block into a separate subdeck, keep up with this new sundeck and work though your due cards over days/weeks.
If you really have no clue what's going on with your old cards, you could consider suspending them and relearn that material during dedicated.

Agree with the above. Make a filtered deck for your current block that way you can hammer those concepts in for long term retention.

Below is a really good video on making catch-up filtered decks

Go to the anking main deck in anki:

searchbar should look like --> deck:AnKing is: due

Control A (select all) --> double click & set due date --> 0-14 (or however many days you want to stretch them out) and you'll probably only have about 80 or so extra to do each day.

It'll still be more than normal for a few weeks but its less overwhelming than trying to push through 1000+ cards at once.
