Hello SDN,
I just found out I passed the Naplex. I wanted to share what worked for me. I basically watched all the videos for the therapeutics chapters of the RxPrep book online. Once I did that, I read the book after finishing watching all the videos. Notice I said AFTER watching the videos. This was important to me because I'm a visual person, and I enjoyed reading the book after I had already heard/seen a lecture about it. I made sure to read the book in this order (read all therapeutics chapters first, then go back and read the non-therapeutics chapters). Finally, after finishing reading the book, I decided to take every single quiz for each chapter of the book provided by the RxPrep Online Quiz Bank. My scores were usually in the 70s. Occasionally in the 60s for difficult topics. Don't get discouraged with these numbers - this is sufficient. The RxPrep questions are a lot harder than the actual Naplex questions. Please note the following - the way I took quizzes is as follows: I had a review sheet made by my classmates. This review sheet had every chapter in RxPrep summarized, so I would read the summary of a chapter, THEN take the quiz for that chapter. I repeated this for EVERY chapter. After I was done taking quizzes, I did the RxPrep online calculations quizzes lasr. I did all four sets twice.
I felt ready to take the pre-naplex, scored an 84 and felt confident. Then the week of my exam, all I did was reread that review sheet I talked about from start to finish (I skipped oncology and HIV), while practicing SDN calculation packet twice! I skipped oncology and HIV because that stuff drives me nuts, and I don't have great memorization skills, and I wasn't going to sit here during the week of my exam trying to memorize that mumbo jumbo. If it came up on my test, I would take an educated guess.
I intended on taking another pre-naplex 2 days before my exam, but didn't have the mental energy or time for it. Finally, on the day of the exam, I went in there with 3 hours of sleep. I just couldn't sleep that night.
I had lots of calculations, some HIV and onco, enough ID, and everything else from various topics within RxPrep. It wasn't an easy exam. It was tough. I had to think hard for a lot of the questions, so much so that I finished all 185 questions with only 30 seconds to spare. Yeah - it was a race against time!! I scored a 100 on the Naplex. You can do it too.
My advice - study in earnest. It really pays off. Good luck everyone!
