what is happening with this new implementation of the Step II clinical skills and clinical knowledge exam??? what does it mean? I really want to take the USMLE step II exam in May.. is it still possible to take step II? the new implementation is scheduled to begin in June of 2004. what does this new system mean??? it says that it is graded on a pass / fail basis.. what kind of ridiculous changes will that bring??? scores are worthless? the step II score is meaningless now? what is going on? I wish to score very high on step II and do well.. what does it mean if all that shows up on my report is just pass? does that mean that I will be evaluated only on my step I score? which is not bad.. but I want to have motivation for this step, and dont know what is going on... can anyone please enlighten me here??? help!

It is a two day "standardized patient" exercise similar to the one given to foriegn medical school graduates before they can get licensed in the United States.

I don't know the grading criteria but it is "pass/fail."

The NBME is setting up six centers nationwide to which we must all go to be tested. Houston, a six hour drive, is the closest to me.

You will have to take this part of the test before you can sit for the written part.

WRONG.

there are 5 testing sites.

step 1, 2-CK, 2-CS may be taken in any sequence.

maaaan that is a huuuuge relief if that is true.. I was under the assumption that step II clinical knowledge and clinical assessment were to be taken back to back.. like day after day.. that is what the original rumor was. thanks for literally not making me wake up in the middle of the night unnecessarily .. thats a big relief.. I really really really hope that you can take these exams seperately as you are saying.. otherwise thats too much pressure in two days man. its just not realistic.. so what do you think now.. do you think that the USMLE step II will still be the same computerized exam that it is now? or will it be a paper and pencil type of exam to somehow coincide with since they are bustin out this brand new system?
