A few things about me:
-Received a 5 on both of my AP english exams
-11 on the MCAT Verbal
-760 writing SAT (perfect essay score, as well)

I have absolutely no idea how I received such a terrible score. It was 2nd percentile LOL! My guess is that I didn't write in the correct format. Are we supposed to argue against? For? Both?

I'm retaking (due to my 7 in PS) so any advice would be helpful!

It might help to post a sample of your writing for people who know what qualifies as high scoring MCAT writing to grade.

For example, to get a great score on the SAT writing, you just write a super long essay regardless of its actual quality. My writing style would not work well on the SAT because I abhor fluff while the SAT rewards it.

I disagree...my essay on the SAT I (not II) was not long but I got an 11/12. I just made sure to write 4 well formed paragraphs - 1 intro mentioning the examples I was going to use, 3 paragraphs each with a supporting example, and a light conclusion.

I am not sure about the MCAT, although I think you are supposed to follow the prompt and write an example for it and an example against it.

Can you petition for a re-grade? Something sounds off...

A "K" isn't a mediocre or bad essay. It's an AWFUL essay. Basically non-existant with a single run-on sentence. Do NOT retake until you have outside opinions on your essay skills.

Yeah, considering a "J" is "you didn't even write anything", a "K" essay would seem pretty hard to get as long as you try. Maybe OP misunderstood both prompts and thus didn't address them correctly, or the computer didn't save most of his essay due to a glitch or something.

how exactly did you write it and how much? the first time I did it, i didnt really take it seriously and wrote two paragraphs of bullcrap and got around 50 percentile and that was cool with me, lol.

I thought the prompts for the writing section on the mcat are pretty straightforward. You just need to follow exactly what they ask you to do and you should be fine.

Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Basically, first paragraph explain what the given statement means, and provide an example or two. Second paragraph give an example of when the statement would not work and why. Third paragraph, give a system in which you can determine when the statement can apply and when it cannot not. If you deviate from this formula, you can't get a good score, no matter how well your essay is written.

It's best to stick with only one example per thesis and antithesis. Any more and you'll start to confuse the reader.
