As far as I know for prerequisites you must have C or better (C- must be repeated), but it probably depends on schools you are applying to.

You will probably have to re-take it. Every single school I looked at required C or above for all pre-req courses. Look up your school's website- it should tell you.

It would definitely benefit you to retake it. You have a 2.78 which is barely above the majority of school minimums of 2.75. If your chem class has a high credit hour count it can definitely boost you to retake it but also almost all schools require a C or better and a C- doesn't qualify.

I wouldn't retake it. Minnesota, Maryland and iowa all take c-. Email schools, you'll probably find more schools than you think that will accept the c-. And honestly if you have bachelor taking it wouldn't raise your GPA much since you have so many units already.

I say apply then retake if needed. Like summer before or spring semester

A lot of schools have min of 2.5 GPA and some good schools like VCU dont even HAVE minimums. They look at the whole package. most people get confused on the grading system. if it SHOWS up on your transcript as a C- with the minus sign then yeah retake it. BUT, if you got a low 70 and it just says "C" on your transcipt without the minus sign, you do not need to retake it. many schools treat ALL Cs the same. example, a 79 and a 70 are both Cs. So they do NOT know if you recieved a C - or a C or a C+ if the minus sign does not show up on your transcipt. Like for my grades. I got C - in most of my pre reqs, but on my transcipt, it just shows up as a C. I got accepted to several school.

DO not get caught up on the school GPA min. some schools are flexible about that. if you do well later on in your other courses (esp, chem) I would not waste time and money retaking gen chem
