I started ERAS today...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't personally think so. I appiled to like 42 I think... and got plenty of interviews... but I am a DO student so I have a little harder time than the average MD student.

Q, DO

I think it is best to apply to as many programs as you are comfortable with. When in doubt, it is better to apply to too many than too few. You can always turn down interviews later.

I'm feeling the pain too--not that I've gotten around to doing anything about my application yet...

It's best to talk to your advisor (hopefully from an EM residency) to get an idea of how competitive you are, how many to apply to.

I've also been told that it's better to be safe and err on the side of too many, then turn down interviews if you need to. BUT always tell them promptly when you decline--it's a small enough community and people talk!

Good luck! ERAS procrastinators unite!

To those who've been there and done that regarding ERAS anyway, a question if I may. In the Publications section, how do you put in publications that have been accepted but haven't been published yet and for which you don't yet have a citation? Thanks in advance for the help!

You would cite an accepted publication like:

Author IMA. Title of article as you submitted with your accepted manuscript. Science In Press.

For EM applicants their is an organization called CORD that has guidelines for bibliographic citations that you all may want to read before submitting your ERAS applications. Their website is www.cordem.org

good luck
