I think I going to get a C in calculus.. help me please!

I'm taking calculus I this semester.
(and this semester is almost over. all I have left is the final..)
I think I'm going to end up getting a C in calculus.
I know that medical schools look at your math GPA as well as other GPAs..
Since this is the only math class that I'm going to take, getting a C in this
class will bring down my math GPA a lot..
and I'm worried..
is this mean medical school is not for me?
math is not my strongest subject...
I'm a freshman, and I'm going to end up getting around 3.1 this semester..
This is a really bad start.. isn't it?

You don't have a separate math GPA when you apply. Your math classes just count towards your science GPA. As long as you do well in your other science classes, one C won't hurt you too much.

A 3.1 is definitely not a great overall GPA to have when you apply, but you still have plenty of time left to bring it up. Just figure out how best to study and get better grades.

No need to freak out now, but you should figure out what's wrong, and fix it.

most ppl screw up there first semester because they have problems adjusting

and there is not such thing as a math gpa
however if im wrong =3
take stat, that'll balance you out

but yes...
1 c or even a few wont kill you

I won't tell you that a C in calculus is good, but it definitely won't ruin your chances. Med schools tend to be very forgiving of first semester if you have that golden "upward trend" that they love. Make sure your grades are great next semester, and the semesters after that, and this won't haunt you at all.

in most high unit classes (like Calc) the final has the ability to significantly change your grade...

I'm taking calculus III this quarter (my last math class, so yay!) and now I'm officially having a C (got an A- for my first midterm and a D for my second midterm). Yeah, I only have one final left. I talked to my professor and he sounded like if I get 100% on my final, I would be able to bring up my grade to a B+ or even an A-. To be honest, I'm going for it. I believe I can get an 100% for my final. There is hope! Just study super hard and do super good on your final. You can get at least a B or even an A? DON'T GIVE UP. 🙂

I got a C in calc and a 3.1 my first semester. Take a look at my MD Apps and take a deep breathe! You'll want to turn that around though next semester, but this is a huge adjustment period, and they will know that.

One C in calculus during one semester of freshman year is nothing to worry about! Only very rarely do you meet people in medical school that had a SOLID 4.0 during their undergraduate years. Don't let one class get you down and start questioning whether or not medical school is for you. That is a question you will be better able to answer after another year or two and through volunteering/shadowing, not one calculus class.

Just do your best and try to get as high of a grade as possible.
However, IF you end up with a C in calculus, it is NOT the end of the world AT ALL. You still CAN go to med school.
It's true that med schools are a lot more "forgiving" of Cs and even WORSE grades in your first semester.

Don't fret. Just do the best you can, but also try to keep things in perspective-- A C is NOT the end of the world at all.

And what if this happens to someone junior year of college. I've taken chem, bio , Orgo parts 1/2 and I've a fairly good GPA/sci GPA. But I'm taking calc and its kicking my butt.

This grade isn't going to kill your chances. Get an overall above average GPA and you should be good.
