This ain't pretest jitters. I'm assessing my knowledge at this point, and I don't think I'm going to pass my first test.

At my med school, you need to pass 8 out of 12 tests to pass the first year. So I'm not worried about that.

I'm "with it" now, on top of my academics (3rd week). First two weeks were really hard for me and I inadvertently slacked off. But I'm confident I'll pass all the remaining tests, because I resolved previous issues that were obstructing my studying.

I'm concerned though about how this will look on my record. My school is pass fail. I don't think it'll look too good that I failed a test, when it's all pass/fail even if I pass for the year. How will this affect my future in terms of getting residencies, etc.?

Nobody's going to look at your transcript and say, "Well he would've been a great doctor, but he got a 65 on his first test." They don't see your grades -- they see that you passed the course or failed the course. At least, that's the way it works here.

Dude, if I get a 65 on the first test I pass.

I'm looking at more of a 35 - 55 range here.

Well, with a little work, you can get to the 55-75 range and then go all out for the next test. YOU CAN DO EEET!!!!!

Anatomy, Embryology, and some very minor Biostatistics.

There's a practical followed by a written exam, both of which together constitute the "test".

Which sections do you think you can pass? What are your weaknesses for this exam?

If it is pass/fail it shouldnt matter at all.

Agreed, individual grades do not go on transcripts so all anyone would see is P/F. Also, if you fail an exam do they not let you re-take it?

I think it matters...trust me...I failed an exam last year and could not live in peace until I found out this summer that I was promoted to MSII....
Be positive, work super hard, and try to pass your exam! you can do it!

for anatomy, focus on lab. it is usually much easier to cram in lab stuff than written. u'd be surprised what spending 12 hours in the lab can do fo you, especially if followed by a few hours w/rohen.

My school...if you fail an exam you retake to pass it. So unless you fail it again I do not see how it would matter.

you'll pass....99% of us will (don't have the references, but 99% sounds better than MOST ).
