there's no bachelor's degree in medicine. People do not go straight into medical school from high school. In the USA, you attend a 4-year institution and get your bachelor's degree. THEN you apply to medical school to see if you get in. It takes 4 years to get your MD degree then 3 years of residency and then finally you're a doctor. Usually most people will be practicing earliest at the age of 30.

Thank you to the rapid reaction

Is all of American universities have the same system?

Do you know the Saudis and studying medicine in America??

What are the possible rule that may take it in four years?

finally

You are welcome even though its not my reaction. And my reaction is not very rapid either.

No, not all are the same system.

No, I do not know Saudis and studying medicine in America.

MD/DO are generally 4 year programs but you usually need a bachelor or at least be working to a bachelor to qualify for admission.

There are 3 time zones in the US continent. If you guess, you will get the right time at a probability of 12.5%

Hello,

I am Basyouny from Egypt, I’m in the fourth year in the faculty of medicine, I get excellent marks and I have a brilliant CV.

I’m asking if I can get a scholarship to complete my studies in USA.

I’m looking forward to it.

THANK YOU

Transferring to USA from an international medical school in east is unheard of. You can apply to being at some elite private schools such as Harvard, Yale...etc etc

Hi!

I'm from Egypt, and I'm a United States citizen. In Egypt, an individual may enter the Faculty of Medicine after completing high school. After the 6 or 7 years in the Faculty, you have a Bachelors of Medicine. But, in Egypt, it's almost a requirement to earn a Master's and a Ph.D. in Medicine after residency. In the United States, however, once you are out of high school, you have to enroll into a 4-year college, where you earn a degree in any area you wish. After that, you enroll into a medical school. For example, I will be earning my Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014. After I have that degree, I have to enroll in a 4-year medical school, where I will earn an M.D. in 2018.

My question is: Why would you want to come here? College costs so much money here. It is costing me $80,000 to get my B.Sc. in Biology and it will cost $200,000 to get my M.D. In Egypt, college is virtually free. By the time you actually start working, you be more than $250,000 in debt.

It kills me everyday that I'm not in Egypt with my family, and sometimes I regret coming here in the first place. I know Egypt is going through a rough time politically, socially and economically, but things will get better. You should excel through the next two or three years and get an Assistant Lecturer position in the Faculty.

Not a lot of US medical schools want international students, especially public med schools. I'm an international student. But, if you are really dying for a MD degree here, you may be eligible to apply in some schools if you redo all the premedical courses (i.e. general bio, general chem (inorgo intro), physics, calculus I, expository writing, and organic chemistry, etc) in a US school and for at least a year. You will also need to complete all other requirements that typical US premedical students are required to. Does high degree = bachelor degree? Because most schools require a bachelor degree but you are free to choose any major you like. Check the AMCAS website for more detail.

Hi everyone, Im a spanish guy who is studying medicine in Spain(Universidad Complutense de Madrid). I am on my second year and I want to finish my degree here. Here in Spain when yo finish your 6 six years degree in medicine, you have to do an exam called MIR.Depending on the marks you get, you can choose different specialities and hospitals to do residence on them, but both my parents and me have thought about going to the US once I have done my MIR exam.I would like to do residence and learn new things there, but I have heard that although I get my degree done I cant practice there as a doctor directly. But can I do residence over there? Can anyone inform me about the requirements for a foreign student like me to be able to continue my medical education in the US? Any information is helpful. Thankss
