Hi every one:

I am Canada student, I want to apply USA school, but my score is not high about 79, I will take canada's DAT.

Could you tell me some USA schools easy to get in ? Do I have to take USA DAT if I apply USA school? Thank you.

Hi Limzhu,

I think you're the person I met at Western (maybe not), but the name sounds familiar.

Anyway, I am Canadian as well, and am going to attend UPitt in September. The process was difficult in general, but it was even more stressful being international.

There aren't many seats for international students, so you have to be competitive. The US works with GPA, not average, so you would have to calculate that using the AADSAS system which is confusing since you have to convert the 'canadian' system to the 'american'. And obviously do well on the DAT too.

Easy schools? I would have to say NYU when it comes to international, but it's much more expensive than your typical dental school.

I hope this helps. Good luck!!

I also forgot to mention that the majority of schools accept the Canadian DAT. I didn't do the US DAT and everything worked out fine.

There really aren't any dental schools that are easy to get into. If there were, we wouldn't have any need for SDN.

Some may be better for you, given your circumstances, however you'd need to convert your grades to GPA and take your DAT to get any more specific advice.

Good luck!

Private schools are easier to get into for the simple reason that they do not give priority to their state students. I had an 86, 19/16 Dat and did not get into Western, but got into Marquette. I would apply to Detroit, Marquette, Case Western and Tufts for the simple reason that they are familiar with the Canadian school system. A 79 is C - in most american schools ( a CD at marquette) but almost an A in any Canadian schools. Most Schools I mentioned will know that.

Speaking from experience getting an 80 at western was as difficult as getting a 95 at marquette. You probably could get an 80 without studying. Not saying that one is better than the other, just different ways of testing and grading.
