Hello, I'm not from this forum but I just wanted to know if anyone knows of people that have been in med school and then part of the way through it they decided to do dentistry...without finishing med school? Do you know of anyone who has wanted to do this and got accepted? Thank you!

interestingly enough, my cousin started out in denistry and then had a disorder where she couldnt get sufficient blood flow to her hands so she couldnt be a dentist (i dont start med school till next year so i wont know the exact name of the disorder until then 😉 ) She dropped out, took the mcat and went on to medical school. I would think this would be harder than doing it the other way around so I am sure if that is what you want to do it is possible!

well they did, but she had a medical excuse and it was legitimate. she didnt have the dexterity with her hands required to be a dentist. there are fields in medicine where it wouldnt be as important.

Yeah she had a legitimate excuse, I wonder what would happen with someone who didn't really have an excuse...

I believe at some schools it's possible to transfer from the med school to the dental school (although not really possible to transfer from dental to med without starting over)....in part because most of the first few years are the same for both medical and dental students (and in fact, often the med and dent students are in the same class).
