I'm married to a DPT student. It's good stuff!

Most definitely a doctor. Another doctor is much more likely to think alike and understand the demands of the job.

I put medicine, but honestly I don't care as long as she's intellectual and appreciates the dedication medicine requires i.e. she is professionally trained regardless of what field, although I have a slight preference for science.

👍 Same. As long as he is intellectually similar to me, no matter what field. Without simlarity in intellect, how much can you truly relate?

Not for nothin' never happen'
I'll be forever mackin*

*Followed by getting married to beyonce, if this works the same for me as it did for him

Architect, journalist, history/political science teacher, or economist plus he has to know how to cook & play soccer😛

and if he was a doctor i wouldn't mind.

I dated a lawyer for 6 years and have had friends who have dated lawyers. The most annoying people to have arguments with EVAR.
i know right? my opinion is also based mostly on personal experience. i want to be as far removed from law as possible (except of course as long as i know enough to get by and deal with issues as they come up)

i'm not getting married, I'm going to be like Christian Troy.

But look at him now, he dreams about Kimber all the time...

Just be like Christian and once you find your 'perfect' 10, stick with her so she won't kill herself! Adore her so she will adore you = perfect couple 😎

I'm definitely going to marry an exotic animal vet. I freaking love the zoo.

Literature or History; so when we home school our children till middle school, I'll have someone to nurture the creativity and conversationalist part of their brain.

That pig is freaking me out.

I'd like to marry a gay, 22 year old pre-med from UCSD who got a 36T on the mcat yet is thinking of going to St. George's?

Okay, I'll be a little less cryptic, Morsetlis.

Well-educated overachievers who cannot follow a thought to its logical conclusion abound. SDN is a good example of that. I guess I should look for a lawyer since I love debate and rhetoric, but I think you can find intellectuals in any career path, including no career at all.

haha, have you ever tried to each an 8 yo to do fractions? i find it interesting and challenging figuring out how kids think and how to teach them.

for me, if i could choose my SO's profession, it would be education. it could be elementary, high school, university. its stable, less time intensive than mine. it would balance out nicely.

There are many types of intelligence. The ability to be a kind, caring teacher and role-model for school-aged children takes patience, dedication, and intelligence and can be every bit as rewarding as a career in health-care imo. Also those are qualities that would make me trust the person to be a good mother.. I'd much rather be with someone who likes talking about art, music, LIFE, love, the beauty of nature, travel, movies ETC, than someone who can critique my management of a patient over the dinner table.

Haha, so many responses to my post. I think it is a matter of personal preference, though. I'm not crazy about kids, and elementary school teachers would love talking about kids and want to have them. What teachers like to talk about at the end of the day isn't really what they've been teaching, but the various personalities of the kids they encounter as they teach, and maybe you would enjoy listening to that all the time. It makes sense that someone would want traits that are indicative of being a good mother if they want to have children, but I don't, so what I'd want is more akin to another business partner and ally. I'm also not too far removed from the high school environment, and I can say that the K-12 environment is pretty miserable. I'd like to get as far away from that as I can.

If thamsenman looks anything like his avatar, I advise Morsetlis to ask his sexy admirer out.

Actually it is creepy you know so much about this guy.

quite the opposite my I say. You're so tired of them the last thing you want to do is think about them or have in the house anything remotely resembling a kid

I dunno man I know this dude who actually counselors summer camps for kids AND is a K-12 teaching assistant (soon to be actual teacher).

Personally I wouldn't be able to stand the stupidity overload.

ideally a massage therapist who is very dedicated to his work and wouldn't mind bringing work home!! it would be perfect for med school, residency, and years beyond

And then you dump him for a dermatologist. Right?

Oh shiz... I never considered a massage therapist.

Damn I may have to rethink this. Hmmm.. maybe a massage therapist who is also an aspiring chef??

onemcat, be ware of what you wish for.

After reading your post I imagined you coming into your house after a long shift in the hospital, miserable, to find your massage therapist giving a pretty client a nice rub down in your bed...

I'm guessing that's not what you intended! On the other hand, if it is, I bow and honor your wisdom. Then I'll wish I could ever be so lucky to find a free spirit like yours. Maybe then I'd change my mind about marriage!!

Why is this starting to sound like a porn plot.

No, they'd dump the massage therapist for the chiropractor. People go for the same type, and they both do the same hokey stuff, one just makes more money.

you know i realized how that sounded after i posted it, but ideally he would just like to do his job at home and not literally "bring his work" home

construction worker. i want a big, swarthy, hunky, working-class kind of guy. you know, the kind that wears a tool belt but doesn't know how to spell it.

But you'll be a doctor.
