I would like to give thanks to SDN for being my premedical advisor. I know that sounds dumb but I learned everything there is to know about the medical school process from SDN and everyone who participates in the forums.

I do not see my premedical advisor at my undergraduate school and so was pretty lost when trying to decide what to do. SDN helped me realize that I needed to get my LORs fast, the proper ettiquette on thank you notes, when to get my applications out, what schools I should apply to, help on the secondaries, interviewing tips, and so much more.

I really do think SDN is a much better premedical advisor than any actually premedical advisor out there. Honestly, I would be lost in this process and don't think I would have had much success without SDN. I know that may sound stupid but I firmly believe that.

I would like to give thanks to the makers of this website and all those who are moderators of it, because you have given us a valuable source of information that is especially necessary as a premed. I truly do appreciate it.

I agree with Slickness one hundred percent. I'm so happy I had SDN when I was applying and that's why I'm glad now to contribute. A big thanks to everyone who is and has been helpful on SDN!

we don't have any sort of premedical advisor or health professions committee at ucla. just some general career counselors who really don't know much about med school. the only help i've gotten at ucla is the required classes for med school. i only wish that i'd checked out sdn earlier in my pre-med career.

I third that. I especially appreciate all of the people that gave encouragement BEFORE i applied, that definitely helped a lot. Although it takes some time to filter the junk out, SDN is definitely better than any advisor I've had. I attribute part of my success to SDN.

Yes, I want to thank SDN for their help and support too. It has been an invaluable source in helping me through the med school process and sharing the experience with other premeders. It's nice to know there are people who are going through the same process and that I can talk to them about it and get feedback.

SDN gave me more information than my prehealth advisor ever could (he wasn't very motivational to any of us - telling us if we didn't get into med school our first time applying we would never get in 😡 ). It's definitely nice to see others going through the same thing you are, through MCAT's, then applying to med school, then MS-I, MS-II, etc.

SDN is the best!

yup! as an international student, usually premed advisors are pretty discouraging. But in SDN, I meet a lot of foreign students and I get pretty much info about the application process for foreign students.

I am glad I found SDN, though I wish I ahve found it earlier!!
cheer!!

i never visited my premed advisor....or any damn advisor for that reason...

so when it came to questions and stuff...there is noone better than sdn.

sdn: open 24-7, fast, relatively polite customer service, and is not computerized.

what more could i ask for? nada.

As a nontrad working first full-time, than part-time, and finishing up premed requirements at a c.c. (no premed advising), I learned EVERYTHING about the app process off of SDN. It still sort of amazes me how much I learn from the General Residency forum, and I don't know enough to post anything there.

Some of the best things in life really are free.

word...

I look forward to using SDN as a resource through med school and residency as well...keep truckin

agreed. this website (and, particularly, these fora) have been far more helpful to me than any advising provided by my school.

Had to jump in and agree with what everyone else said. I first got on SDN in Jan of 1999, back when OldManDave was APPLYING to med schools (he's now a resident at Dartmouth!). It was the most encouraging, informative site on the internet and the information I have gleaned in the past almost 5 years has been invaluable. It's great having this resource and the people on this site to talk to about all aspects of medical school applications, clinicals, and residency. Thanks to the site creators, the moderators, and all the members of SDN.

Ditto...I don't know what I would do without SDN.

Well, I guess I would be forced to do something social... 😀

YES, my premed advisor is teh sux. I thank the big guy in the sky everyday that I've got sdn.

Hmmm, does that fact that sdn isn't ruining my social life mean that I'm not on here enough?!? Looks like I've got some making up to do!

SDN is awesome. I don't really have much time for anything else during my weekdays except for classes, labs, studying, and ECs. During my my study breaks at the library, I just go to the computer lab and browse SDN for about 10-15 minutes before hitting the books again (I need to take breaks every 3 hours...cuz..well..I'm not a robot..I can't focus for long periods of time without getting restless, tired, etc). It's really encouraging to see others going through what you're going through and I really wish I would've found this forum earlier.

I just hope that you all realize that SDN requires a lot of $$$ to keep open, and that is with the grace of Lee's good heart that this website is running..

as such, when you all become doctors, please donate back so that this website can exist for future people...

as such, I wish to let everyone know, that I am official SDN's financial advisor...so please ehem, send your checks to me, so that we can keep SDN for future SDNers

everyone please write your checks to:

When I get particularly stressed, (Usually 20 out of the allotted 24 hours)I browse SDN and generally feel encouraged and ready to fight again. Thanks guys and gals!!!!!!😍

i want to thank SDN not only for being like an advisor, but also giving me motivation to keep studying. when i hear people talking about the grades they get on MCAT and all those high GPA's, it makes it seem like it is possible, i just gotta keep working. SO thank you SDN and all those other SDNers.

a round of applause for this site please:
