Hi looking for some advice about how to notify schools about an IA I have.

The IA is an underage alcohol citation from freshman year (2013), I did not address it in the primary application because I thought that it did not qualify as an IA and was instead a dorm issue. After reading threads here I now realize that it does qualify.

I am planning on updating schools through emails once I submit their secondaries (currently working on several). Is this the correct approach? A couple secondaries ask about IAs again so I am planning on addressing it on those as well as emailing the adcoms to notify them of the update.

Is this the best way to approach this? I don't want it to seem like I was trying to deceive them as I thought that this did not qualify when I was writing my primary (honestly didn't even really remember it until threads on SDN jogged my memory).

Also how much detail should I put into the email? I want to provide enough so they understand the event- being cited by an RA for underage alcohol consumption in the dorm hallways. The incident is in my housing record which I can request for them but obviously I would rather not do this simply because it will slow down my application. Should I offer to supply it to them or just do so only if they ask?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Thanks! Looks like I am taking the right approach. Is it likely that they will request my dorm conduct record? That was the only reason I was planning on giving a few more details in an attempt to make that unnecessary and avoid delays.

Edit: I appreciate the irony in your name there goniff

Update: I have been emailing most of my schools this update. A few secondaries allow pdf update uploads, however, and for these I simply have been uploading the IA information as an update. Is this enough or should I email these schools as well?

Thanks in advance gonnif and Goro, I have really learned a lot about the process from reading your posts.
