1) what's the difference between the IBT and the CBT?... 😕

2) Which one is preferable? easier?? 😛

3) Which is the nearest place for US to take CBT if thats preferred??

4) Has anyone already taken the IBT? Whats the preferred score? 🙄

I'm not sure but I think they actually completely replaced the exam, in the US you can only take the IBT, but I don't know about other countries yet, it's being done gradually. Check this for more information.

yes now you can only apply IBT, it has been changed since sept. 2005, i dont have the experience of IBT, so cant say bout that.

hi, i took the ibt.thats the only one offered in US.u can register online at toefl.org and choose the centre nearest to you.it has a speaking section also.

Is it worth going to canada or somewhere to take CBT? or just IBT is fine?

In Canada you will find iBT also.

u can take only ibt in us
in india upto april u can take cbt.from april ibt becoming worldwide (as far as i know) dont know about canada
the only difference between cbt n ibt ----------
they included speaking in ibt instead of structure in cbt
most of the colleges preferred a score of 250 in cbt which is equal to 100 in ibt

speaking portion in IBT is helpful for applying detroit mercy university, because for application in this university, they require to take toefl plus test of spoken english (TSE).

i did take IBT too
i dont know how different its from cbt because i never took that
basically main addition is the speaking section where u have to speak about some conversations or some mock topics
apart from that not much difference
i took the test in jan and scored 101

CBT: listening, Grammar, Reading(5-6 essay but short), and Writing ( 30 min)
IBT : listening(take note), Writing(30 min and 20 min), Reading(3 essays but long), Speaking (short and long, with lecture and reading)

For sure CBT

3) Which is the nearest place for US to take CBT if thats preferred??

Some where in the developing countries, you have to find out, but all will change to IBT soon.

4) Has anyone already taken the IBT? Whats the preferred score? 🙄

It is scored from 0 - 120. I am not sure that 100 = 213 or 250 in CBT

Hope it helps, I never took IBT but studied about it.

congratulations mamadent, can you interpret the score of IBT, i mean did get the score for individual section like speaking, essay, reading and listening. like in cbt its out of 30 for each section of listening, reading and grammer and out 6 for essay.

thanks,yes even in ibt they split it up and give the scores for each as well as the whole score.i believe even in ibt it is 30 for each sec.
