Anyone know that the hotel, Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, suggested by the school is a nice place to stay? Is it within walking distance? Any suggestion is appreciated.
Also, which place is worth for scene seeing around that neighborhood area if I only have one free afternoon?
Thank you! 🙂

The Hyatt is a very nice place to stay at. It is not within walking distance to ICO but cabs are readily available. The hotel is a bit isolated (not much to do around the area), but again you can take a cab anywhere.

I had some free time and went to the Navy Pier, Greek Town, Sears Tower, and a little bit around Michigan Avenue with my sister. I think Navy Pier is really nice (good amount of tourist) and you can even book one of those dinner cruises if you like. Greek Town was pretty fun. We went to this restaurant called The Parthenon - very nicely decorated and the food was really good. We had the prie fixe menu and there was a section that listed the meats (lamb, poultry, and beef), and when we ordered we asked the waiter that we wanted the poultry, but it turned out that you get all three! 😱 So good! It included two appetizers with a salad and dessert! It costs about $50 for both of us. 🙂 And the waiters, wow, 😀 One reminded me of Vince Vaughn.

You can also stay at the ICO housing complex also to get an idea where most of the 1st years live.

Best wishes,

Rosanna

my good friend who lives in chicago says go to the CONGRESS!

the congress hotel is the cheapest (and nice too), and you'll also be right downtown, and close to the sites, plus, also close to ICO (so a bonus). you will also have instant access to free ferry's to travel to all locations

I'm not sure where the Congress is, but no hotel is withing walking distance of ICO. I stayed at the Hyatt when I interviewed, it is pretty nice and is a short ride to ICO. But like was said above, there isn't a lot to do in the area. I would stay in the city if I had some time to kill, a cab can get you to ICO from anywhere.
