It happens a lot. Used to be that if you bombed it during your practical you had to complete another ten or so then go down to Dr Baker's office and check three pairs in front of him.
Dr. Goodfellow is running things now. My understanding is that his remediations are a little more complicated but they don't end in a "final showdown" (you might have to check many pairs in front of a TA or somthing)
Trust me. there will be many first year's that mess this up over the next week
