Hi all,

ICU sub-i vs Emergency Medicine sub-i -- which 4th yr subinternship do you think would be more useful in preparing oneself for a medicine internship?

And on that note, how many subinternships is too many in terms of burnout before internship yr?

Thanks!

I vote for MICU. How many Sub-I's is too much? Any more than the required amount for graduation.

+1. ICU will be tougher than EM, but It'll be much better for you in the long run. Trust me.

Yep MICU.

You never know, you might get a MICU rotation (the dreaded start to the intern year) right off the bat next year. Much more useful than EM.

I don't know about the being much more "useful". 😀 They both have their pros and cons.

As far as how many; you know yourself. But a cush rotation is nice to take a breather from the rat race and to allow time off for interviews. A busy sub-i is nice for allow you to not stress about the match, but sucks after the match when you want to look for housing.
