So I just applied for my USMLE Step II and after I paid I expected to see all the nonsense paperwork you have to physically mail in for USMLE (maybe this is a DO thing? I think its an everyone thing).

But when I am done paying the only link they give me, in the space where they say all the links should be, is my credit card receipt. I just took my USMLE step I about 8 months ago. Do I have to do that damn "certify your identification" thing where you need a passport photo and roughly 15 different notarization that you actually attend the school you claim to attend? Or am I off the hook for that because my USMLE I was recently? I didnt see the link for it, so I'm assuming I may be off the hook for it, but I dont want my paperwork held up if I need to send that stuff out. The USMLE people aren't getting back to me quickly enough on this matter for my liking.

You don't have to send the photo and stuff like you did before Step 1. They do contact your school to make sure you're still a student which takes a week or two but then they'll send you the number you need to make your appointment.

This only works if you selected to keep your ID info on file during the original Step 1 process. If you don't choose to keep your info, you gotta do the whole thing again.

You shouldn't have to do the whole thing again. It took about 3 days for my registration to go through then another 2-3 to get the scheduling permit. They will email you about both things, and you'll see them change on your NBME screen.
