What is the best resource/text for OB/GYN?

First aid for obgyn and casefiles are both pretty solid

I've gone ahead and purchased First Aid OB/GYN 3rd edition.

That's actually what I've read on Amazon, that it's too detailed.

Did you use First Aid's OB/GYN?

I can only comment on MTB, but I felt that MTB 2 and 3 in conjunction were decent but still lacked in certain aspects, particularly management.

Why are people studying Step3 material for Step2? Is MTB2 not sufficient?

I think I've read that the management sections in 3 are superior.

The OBGYN section in MTB is definitely not sufficient. Its very thin and skips over a lot of stuff, especially first trimester screening.

Many folks also say that Surgery and Pediatrics are weak in MTB 2, but from what I saw pediatrics was pretty decent (outside of some syndromes that aren't there) and Surgery is such a low-yield topic that anything more than UWorld is overkill.

One thing that sucks about MTB is the neuro section, with regards to dementia. It has nothing about Alzheimer's, Pick's, CJD, those kind of things.

Off-topic (of thread) but would you say the UW questions on this differential prepared you well enough to figure it out on the exam?

More or less, yeah. The good thing is there are certain tell-tale signs that help separate them so its not too hard as long as you have a decent understanding of each one.
