Even if you are not attending a major research university, you will likely have the opportunity to do some research. It is not what you research as an undergrad, but simply the fact that you do the research and get the experience.
Extracurricular activities that will make you strong are things like volunteering, research, medical mission trips, student government.
Never study for the MCAT with textbooks. Use review books such as found in our bookstore. You'll waste a bunch of time and won't learn what is important if you use texts.

Best wishes!

This is the oldest thread I could find on SDN...who is Jim Henderson? Is he the inventor of SDN? Is he still alive? His profile says he was last seen in 2008. So many questions

Sorry for the extreme necro bump.

Best wishes!

According to post history, he was one of the creators of SDN. He practiced FM for 7 years and then may or may not have quit medicine.

:zombie: Witchcraft! Burn him alive with cleansing fire!

This is a fitting post as the oldest one on SDN, since it has the appropriate amount of anxiety and odd questions mixed perfectly together

Also loving that even back in 1999, people were calling it the "MCATs." Didn't realize our favorite feline superheroes were that popular back then.

I think it's great that he probably made this thread on one of these bad boys:

Pretty interesting history for this guy. Left medicine after 7 years to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience, though it sounds like that was his plan all along.
